Talking First Impressions of New (to me) 07' Carbon Silver Touring Roadster

After several months of searching I finally settled on an 07' Carbon Silver Touring Roadster with the auto transmission. It was at an Audi / Porshe dealer in Austin , traded in with only 1900 miles. The car is flawless and has awesome performance (well after my MX5 anyway) I took it in to my local dealer at 2700 miles and had the first oilchange/service done, and was pleasently suprised at the quaility of dealer service. After driving the car home it had developed a nasty plastic on plastic squeek sound on uneven roads behind the drivers seat.So the dealer tech rode with me and heard the noise and said it sounded like it was in the subwoofer area. That afternoon I picked-up the car and they had found some loose bolts and trim and the noise is gone. Also they washed the car / used mobil 1 oil without charging extra ($25 for service/ warranty on noise)
The Z has so much more power than my 06 mx5 but is not as tossable (is that a word?) You can drive an mx5 like a go cart, with it floored but if you dive the Z in this manor you would not have a drivers liscence long!
The Bose system really sucks in this car (as did the one in the mx5-only its worse in the Z) and i'm sure it will be one of the first changes I make. Also it's weird not having a glove box, and I agree with everyone that says the cubby is worthless above the radio.
This is the first sports car I've owned with an auto transmission and it is a tradeoff that was the hardest by far in my decision to buy this car.If I was 100% healty I would not even have considered it but I have a spine thats like a train wreck and won't really miss the shifting anymore. After the first service I took the Z up to 140 mph on a remote road (after posting a spotter 2 miles ahead with 2 way radio) the Z still had more left but I was running out of road! I really love the sound of this engine and am looking forward to many miles of it's sweet song. So far it's bone stock and I really don't plan many mods. This one is my off work/ fun car. About the only time I miss the mx5 is when I fill-up the Z with gas. I know I could get better mileage but I just can't keep my foot off the gas in this car! oh well more later I have to go to work.

hmmm. interesting. i too have an 07 roadster and have that same "nasty plastic on plastic squeek sound on uneven roads". I have been avoiding the hassel of taking it to the dealer and trying to explain the problem. I wonder if I can fix this myself knowing how yours was fixed. Thanks

The tech guy said that they put "dampning cloth" around the plastic trim and still had the noise then tightened some 10mm nuts in the sub case and the noise went away.If it starts again i'll take them some nylon lock nuts to put on and that should do the trick.I can't help but think it's a vibration thing with the sub and will come loose again with time. But I sure as hell hope not soon as it was horrible ( something you would expect in a Saturn?)

Congrats, I came to the Z from an S2000. While the S was a little more nimble the Z has the power! I know you will love the Z the longer you have it. I think it is a better car than the S2000 in almost every aspect.

...the glove box is behind the passenger seat along with a compartment behind the drivers seat...at least on my '04.5.

Check out your top from one end to the other.....big problems with ZR tops!
