I'm sure I read about how to close the hood manually last week when I was researching roadsters - I remember because it looked like a nightmare disconnecting things etc. It might have been to do with closing it if you have a flat battery - I'll see if I can find the link.

Anyone know where I can get the right and left convertible top latch covers that attach to the windshield..Nissan wants $50 for each of these plastic covers for my 04 350z..

did u figure out how to access your latches yet?
if not i am suggesting that u took the plastic pieces from the trunk and hope to see if there is an acess to your latches from there. i dont think there is another acess point. the access from the glove compartment behind the passenger seat do not connect to the convertible top storage. the only access i can think of is through the rear! the trunk i meant...

If you take all of the plastic pieces off behind the seat, you can then get to the cloth/fabric that is below the area for storing the top. It is a tight fit/reach, but with all of the plastics removed, you can get to it. I have just gone through the process of removing all of that metal behind the seats and opening it all up - so I've gotten pretty familiar with that area of my roadster.
Also, the power passenger seat can prevent the top from opening properly. I've had to remove my passenger seat on many occassions and if it isn't connected up to the connectors underneath the passenger seat, the top will not operate, because the first step that it takes to open the top is to roll down the windows and tilt the power passenger seat forward. If it senses a problem or missing connection for the seat during that first step of the process, nothing will happen.

Oh well. At least the info that I shared might help someone searching later on. Maybe it will help sssmass too, since he seems to have the same question and resurrected the thread since there was no answer posted up.
