Sounds like the throw out bearing, and is a typical "we-can't-fix-that-under-warranty" deal on the 350Zs. My G had it, and both of our Zs have it. Don't worry about it, and don't fix it.

I recommend using 303 Aerospace protectant. It gives you SPF 40 and water beads. It's pricey but for the cost of a top and it lasts. www.303products.com

hey man i live in socal area too. i take classes at uci so im there for the most part. there are some great mountain drives a little down south. we should definitely organize a cruise man. it would be awesome!

as for vinyl top care, is there anything we can do to restore the color? my uncle bought my 350z and passed it on to me, but he didnt take care of the top and its damaged a bit.

Check this out:

Proper care of your top is essential in my opinion.

Good article, JMT - thanks for the link.

Didn't think about getting the dust out, but that makes sense.

Add some sway bars, Hotchkis for me, upgrade the exhaust and HFC, nismo and Berk here, a little more suspension work more nismo and gt spec tie rod bars and you have your very own personal drug. Its a habit that you will not be able to shake. I had it so bad that in the winter, I bought a coupe.

I bought my 2004 in October and I still have not gotten the smile off my face when I drive it. I have found a great way to get the water off the top after a wash, the Shamwow rag takes it right off. Not much better than a good towel on the painted surfaces however.

As far as mpg goes I live where you can cruise at 80 and get about 24.1. Car does not seem to care if is 91 Octane Chevron or 94 Octane Sinclair with 10% Ethanol. The mileage is much better at 65 but I will not drive in the slow lane for 2 mpg.

That is EXACTLY what i meant.... here is my story.

friend of mine gets 5 cars from an auction. one of them is a black 04 coupe. He approaches me and aske me if I want it... I buy it at a very affortable price. He made no money on it. I drove it for some months and liked it... I still have my other vehicles. One day Im driving home with the Z and another Z flashes the ligths... it was daytona blue and it was CLEAN... I liked the color better than my black one so I started looking for the blue one... but it had to be a ZR. Found it and got it... kept both for a while and then had to sell the black one... i had 5 cars and 4 were 2 seaters. Sold the black Z coupe and also one of my first gen RX-7.
Started working on the blue ZR and since I got it...

VeilSide Version III body kit

Black top conversion - did not like the blue top so I changed it for a black one
