Thumbs up Drove a 350Z ROADSTER...Today!!!

~Black Touring~........Oh yeah, that's the only 'Model' it comes in!
AT any rate, this one had dealer installed NISMO muffler. Sounded nice, BUT not nicer than my BORLA.
Still, I was VERY impressed! Especially with the ride! YES! Nissan has saved people the "excessive bounce" as we have endured in 03'. Top up: relatively quiet. Top down: AWESOME! Normal conversation at 65 miles an hour.
Overall: Impressed.

And oh yeah...my first time driving an Auto-Manual in the Z.

Thumbs up

Oh yeah! The seats are so INCREDIBLE! They are comfy and ventilated so that when the Top is down, you feel the AIR recirculating behind your back!

wait, so it is ventilated? This is contrary to what people have said so far.

It's hard to describe...
They are NOT ventilated in the way our current Leather seats are, rather the MATERIAL feels like a "Net over Gel" (I know ) with Leather surrounding it...
It works!

So, if they fixed the "excessive bounce", do you think they will retrofit the 03's?

Default drove 2 of them today

Drove a DB Touring Roadster to refuel as a courtesy to a customer. It was an A/T, and all I hafta say is that it felt sluggish. I know it's got a lot of horses just waiting to bolt free, but it wasn't so easy to rein them and direct them. I tried it even in the manual mode, and found that it did not shift as quickly as I would've liked. Now, it would've been alright if I were trying to race, probably, but I was just trying to go at a respectable pace in the city, and it just felt less responsive than I would've liked. I've been spoiled by my 6MT, I guess.

The other one I drove was a CS Touring, 6MT, from one end of the lot to another, navigating around several rows of Nissans. Although I couldn't go very fast, I liked the response a lot better. And the 17" wheels made the ride a lot smoother than my '03 Touring 6MT.

All in all, the roadster looks great! But you can feel the added weight (just like I can right now when I take aboard a passenger), and with the A/T, it can get a little sluggish.

Just my review. :O)

Also offered on the Z® Roadster are unique, Burnt Orange ventilated net seats*. The net-style seats are made with a woven seat cloth center insert and feature an opening in the seatback so that the driver can feel a wind flow during top-down driving. A built-in seat heater is also available for those sundown rides.

I disagree on the "Seat of The Pants Feeling" in performance. It doesn't feel quite as fast as my Coupe, BUT...that does NOT mean it felt 'sluggish'. It still wants to "rev" just like all 350's do.
On a ~side note~ I was told that they definitely did something to the suspension, but also, this particular car had the 17' BASE wheels, with what appeared to be 55-series tires (tall sidewall) that obviously helps in cushioning when compared to my "Lowered 350 riding on '35-series tires.

When I took my car in for an oil change yesterday, there was an older man coming back from a test ride in a brand new redline convertible (still had the plastic sheeting on it.)

Turns out he's been complaining about the ride of his 03 Base and wanted warranty work done on his suspension. Dealer probably won't do anything but he did say that the convertible rode better.

Point for consideration: The convertible weighs ~200 lbs. more than our coupes. This can affect the way the car rides! They may have a slightly different suspension on the '04 roadsters, but don't forget the weight difference. I don't know if its the only factor, as I'm suffering from lack of info, as we all are...
