Default Grand Touring Roadster Needs Brakes

Hey guys!

Brakes on the GTR are squeaking. I want to repalce it with some cross drilled disk but want to retain my brembo calipers.
Any Suggestions?

You can spend $200/4 for 1-piece rotors to $1,000 for 2-piece rotors. Depends on your needs and budget. Plenty of brake recommendations in the brake forum.

Why do you want to replace the rotors if the brakes are squeaking? Shop around, they're out there.

Hey Scott,
Brembo brakes can't be resurfaced. After a few brake changes it comes to a point where you have to change the disk out. I am there.
I figured as things need changing I would upgrade to a high performance item...

Just curious, why can't they be cut?

Squeaking as in the wear indicators are touching, or something else?

How many miles on the brakes currently?

The rotors can be resurfaced. Look around on the vendors FS threads on this forum. A lot have them, but are pretty pricey. Also check to see if your pads need replacing. Good luck.

It took me a second also, but GTR = Grand Touring Roadster.

Ron - we have 80k on our GTR including many track events with aggressive brake pads. We're still on the stock rotors without issue. In either event, do not buy them from Nissan, as they were $600/rotor! If it were me, I'd get the Stoptech SportStop 1-pc rotors, which come in drilled or slotted. If you are feeling wealthy, you could also get their Aerorotor, which is a 2pc floating rotor.

Scott and Carbon,
You guys are a pleasure. Thanks for the info. I believe it is only the indicator making the noise. No harsh grinding noises yet. I don't want that.
I just hate haring it. I work for Nissan and my Mechanic told me that the disk are due to be changed.
I will check out the site and see what I can come up with.....

Thanks

It is hard to tell if the rotors need to be changed -- by mileage alone. It depends on your driving habits. 80k miles could be all highway or could be stop & go driving (in which case, you probably wouldn't reach 80k miles).

Do you also get a slight pulsating feeling when slowing from 40 MPH or less?

I would try changing the pads first, then see if your issues go away.

Otherwise, if you really want new rotors, check out R1 Concepts.

Ron,
Happy to help.

What's the latest with this? I love the Brembos on our ZRs.

Hey Guys.
I called R1 Concepts and spoke to Kit. He was fantastic. He answered all of my questions and I ended up ordering the drilled and slotted rotors. He is the man. They will be installed tomorrow and I look forward to trying them out and letting you guys know what I think.

Stay tune.

Quick Update!

I was going through some of the threads and realized that I never gave you feed back on the brakes.

I am completely Happy with the way the breaks look and how they perform. I do feel a slight improvement over the stock Brembo disc and a lot less dust on the rims..

Love it and can't wait for my next mod.....

Thanks Guys
