Will the Stillen SC fit under the 07+ hood?

the charger wont fit under any hood but the ugly *** stillen hood..07-08 hood is not gonna clear it, and they used the small roots blower because they didnt want a even bigger scoop to accomodate a bigger blower which would have made some decent power..the stillen kit is a overall all around fail in the performance department and then they had to make a ugly *** scoop too...

i agree this thread has been calm...i think the op realizes now that the car is gonna be slow with that kit but still hasnt tried to get out of the sale..Id do everything i could to get out of it...but hey i would have known what i was buying ahead of time...

however it really would be a good car for the wife if that is truly the case...In no way would i want it

why try to get out of the sale? still makes a very reliable and safe supercharger. It's a good looking car. two pluses there that are a go for the car.

I wouldn't want a car tuned to the ragged edge (400hp is noted to be on the heavy side for our car in stock block) if the wife was just driving it around.

Those of us that drive 400+ hp daily drivers around have a good amount of car knowledge so if something happens we'll know what to do. A person without car knowledge in a modified car like that would more than likely destroy it by accident.

^^i only recommended to get out of the sale because he is worried about the performance part of things from the beginning and wanted 400whp which is not going to happen with the stillen kit, op was even talking about taking the stillen kit off..

As far as reliable im at 11k miles and still going strong with my setup..no issues to date..I daily drive the car in the summer when its nice out...

well there was the issue with your bpv. didn't you have to remove that and have them replace it?

remember, even small things are a task for a person who does no work on cars and has no knowledge.

Ya, i don't know why 400hp is so important for his wife to drive. If it is then getting rid of a cobra was a bad move. Not many cars come OEM with 400hp. The only really safe and reliable car i think is an OEM vehicle. Once you start tinkering there is always room for something to go horribly wrong.

my bpv was functioning perfectly fine as far as holding boost and working it just had an annoying whistle, it didnt need to be replaced i chose to have it replaced to get rid of the high pitched whistle since i have warranty...and overall it ended up being that the wrong spring was in my bpv from the start when it was shipped to me brand new...Still worked fine just opened a little further than supposed to at idle since it had a weaker spring in it causing a whistle at idle when the car was cold, so not a problem anyone should have had was a mistake in packaging..

The car is perfect for a wife to drive and should be reliable but what i said to him from the start not a powerhouse and not going to be with that kit like i think he was expecting..that is all

ah, it was someone else then that had the serious issue with their bpv. i knew you had whistle but i thougth you had other issues. Someone had the issue where the diaphragm inside was flipped or something and it woulnd't function correctly.

and i agree with the bold statement. His supercharged v8 was putting out just over 400hp and he assumed switching to a v6 with a mild supercharger on it. definitely not in the same class. Truthfully i really like the look of that car and i normally hate convertables.

Well I think we agree it is fine for the wife but don,t cut her to much slack she was second in points two years ago in national diesel racing with an average reaction time of .004 however she says she has grown up now (we will see) and wants a calmer ride. The cobra dynoed 473 with a programmer, intake, pulley, and cat delete race exhaust. ran in the 11's on street rubber.

I think my first plan when I get the car is to call those guys in Lexington and have them tune it. And see what their opinion is on the wheels and hood since they have seen so many different options in person

cobra sounds good..the stillen kit even with stage 4 probably wont crack 12's, so if she is into something fast then yeah maybe she wont be too fond of it either...hope she really has grown up and will be happy with it for your sake..it should be a fun very street friendly car and probably a low 13 second car on street tires from all the stillen z's ive seen..

Are you sure the kit can be tuned? what ems is it? because i have always been under the impression it is a set tune from stillen..maybe you should call stillen to verify you can tune for any mods you do or even tune at all

well, racing is one thing, knowing cars is another. I'm not downplaying here but 2 of the guys i build motors for make it to the finals in nationals every year or arenacross and train with Davi Millsaps. Neither of them know the first thing about mechanical stuff. Could barely change the oil on their bike if someone held a gun to their heads. They can race the **** out of a bike though.

I figured the place in lexington could tell me if they could tune it and if not we will just try to enjoy it for what it is.

I have the Stillen stage 2 kit and I like it for daily driving.
Low end torque is very good reducing shifting.
I know it doesn't put down big power numbers, in that case I would have gone TT and not S/C. A friend is running his G with a 3.8 built block and APS twins, mental power but also a lot of traction problems.
So I think people not after that BIG power will be very happy with the extra power and torque the Stillen kit will give.

I think for 16,000 grand you will be happy... If you can put down 350 whp and get some drag radials you should hit a high 12 and thats fast for a car on the street that is daily driven.

I wouldnt get too bummed out about it... In the end I think the car is good value for what you are getting for 15,000...

but thats just my .02 , not everyone needs 450 whp.. My 370z has 330ish whp and it makes me happy, It just comes down to are you or your wife someone who always wants what they dont have and not happy with what you do have..

Its better than a 05 roadster without a SCer!
