Default Seven Year Report

Every year I give an update on my 2004.5 Z in January but I have been too busy with my new start up company to take the time this past January. Well, there really is not much to report from the previous year. The Z still remains mostly my weekend car and I now have 39,500 miles on the odometer (bought it new). I briefly thought about selling it this year to support my flying habit but just couldn't part with it yet, too much low-priced fun! No problems with the top but I am constantly looking for any signs of impending trouble. I use some high performance aviation lubricating grease on the hinges and tracks and this seems to work just fine. I have noticed some wear in the top in the crease of the material where it folds back on itself. There appears to be about four layers of fabric there and only the top layer shows wear so I am not concerned. Finally replaced the original battery this year since inactivity and cold finally took its toll on the original factory battery. Replacement was not all that easy given the space where the battery fits and limited room to maneuver tools. Still liking the Goodyear Eagle High Performance All Weather tires although after about 10,000 miles it feels like I am getting a slight feather to the tread. Gonna' have the alignment checked later this week. I have had the airbag light come on twice over the past 6 or 7 months for unknown reasons. I have reset the indicator light according to instructions in another thread and have not had that issue for at least 4 months. If someone has an idea why that happens, I would like to hear it. The engine never uses oil between 5000 mile changes. I continue to use Mobil One in the Z (and my other 3 cars), no oil usage in any of them. My brother has the 2006 Nismo coupe and it suffers from the oil consumption issue that has been well documented in other threads. My car remains stock but I saw a padded center armrest in another Z and gotta' get me one of those. If anybody knows where, let me know. Other than some minor road rash on the front air dam the car still looks new and I am still lovin' it. Its always ready to go, either to the beach or the mountains and still a load of fun to take on the twistiest roads I can find.

See ya' next year!

When I get a little time I will post some pics but there is really not much to see. My Z is silver with a black top and pretty much standard for the Enthusiast model including 17" wheels. No dents or door dings, I park it a long way from others. Looks like it did when it came from the factory and sleeps in the garage every night except when away on a fun trip. I can only think of once that it was driven in the rain. I got caught in a brief thundershower with the top down but kept driving with the top down and the rain went right over the top. Not a drop in the interior but you have to keep the speed up over 65. Fortunately I was on the interstate and didn't have to stop until I got to a overpass where I pulled over and put the top up.

See ya'!
