Any advice on intalling the front license plate on the roadster. I live in a "two plate state". The dealer said I could drill holes in the front bumper, or purchase a bracket that can be installed over the grill. I've looked online and haven't seen such a bracket for sale. Even if one was available is this a good idea? Thanks.

 

Two choices, the AudioPat's Zee bracket or StrictlyZ's bracket (using the tow hitch). Do a search, find their wares.

My advice would be leave it off. I also live in a two plate state and have driven my old car with only one plate for more than a year with no incidents.

I have no intention of marring my new Z car with holes to the bumper, but that's me :-)

 

I used the toggle bolt method that is described here somewhere. Cheap and works fine. No holes to drill.

 

I just received the License Plate Adapter #16321 from Stricly Z via UPS. It uses the bolt which screws into the tow hook. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Very sturdy parts. Clear instructions. Now if the dealer will just send over my plates . . .

 

Where? "toggle bolt" search is a no go...

My fix-it ticket says otherwise... looks like you need to "toggle" your caps lock key as well.

The toggle bolts work as like a grappling hook and grab the back side of the grill. It is an easy way to center up the plate. I will try to find time to take a picture but you don't really need one. I also used some automotive foam tape on the backside of the universal bracket plus I used 4 toggle bolts unstead of two. Two is all you need.

 

on my fiancee's roadster, the dealer installed the OE plate holder (CA being a two-plate state) and the metal tabs used to actually hold the plate made two ADDITIONAL gouges in the front bumper, plus the holder-holes. so even though we don't intend to run a front plate (i've gone w/o for 20yrs) it's now got four holes to fix. grr.

 

Which dealer? Ellis Brooks? I had my gouges fixed (on them), but they wouldn't pay for the drilled holes.
