Default Roadster Top Replacement

I noticed a tear in my 06 roadster top near the rear window. The car is 7 years old and that is about the shelf life of these tops in the south. I was going to get the twill vinyl, because that was what Nissan installed as original. I am pretty good with my hands and wanted to know if anyone documented the changing procedure of the top. I have done a few other convertibles without much problem. Is there anything I should be extra careful of? Also is there any real advantage to getting a real cloth ragtop instead of the OEM top?
