'03 350z or '04 VW GTI?
Hey guys, this is my first post and am in need of some advice. So here is my situation. I currently have an '04 VW GTI 1.8T with a stage 1 engine chip, stage 2 clutch, after market cold air intake and front mount intercooler and a full custom 3" exhaust system with 155,000 miles on the engine (purchased the car with mods already installed). The turbo is still stock. We recently had a pretty bad hail storm and I have the choice of either totaling out my car or buying it back from the insurance company. So my question is, should I keep my car and spend the extra $3500 that I will receive from the insurance company on repairing my car? Or do I total it out and purchase a 2003 Nissan 350z with 124,000 miles and spend the cash value of my current car ($5000ish after deductible) on upgrades for the 350z? What would maintenance and parts costs be like compared to the GTI? Gas mileage is not really an issue for me along with seating space, e.t.c. I'm just exploring my options and am seeking out the possibility of getting a different car. Thanks!

Personally I would get the 350z and the maintenance isn't bad. The gas mileage and the seating space would be the most troublesome aspects of the Z for me but as you said, it wouldn't be an issue.

^^^^No thought needed, go for the Z and try something new to you. What you'd lack in boost you'd gain in torque and the Z not only looks better than a Golf, it sounds a damn sight better too.

FWD sucks when it comes to big horsepower. Get the 350z as it's not a tarted up econobox, it's a real sportscar. A 350z doesn't haul jackshit compared to a Golf btw. If you need space do not buy a 350z.
