Default My First TSB

Gee, now I feel like part of the club. Just was scanning the TSBs and found this:

NTB03104

IF YOU CONFIRM: The soft-top comes too far forward when closing and is hard to latch, ACTIONS: · Check/adjust the soft-top forward movement. · Check latch operation, and (if needed) replace. See this bulletin for further detail.

I was wondering why it was so hard to lock the top. I've been trying to sort of feather it into place. Guess it's time for a trip to the dealer. Just as an FYI, my build date was 12/03.

You're not a true 350Z owner until you have been to dealer at least 2 times to fix the same problem. Well, that is an exaggeration but, with new cars sometimes come new problems...

the dealer no longer accepts your TSB calls!

Ok, so I take the roadster to my dealer and tell them that at times it's a ***** to latch. The sirens go off, they rush the gurney out of the back and wheel my car away for emergency top surgery. . Now that's service!

Well, less than 10 minutes later, my service advisor comes back and asks me to go with the tech and show/explain what the problem is. Naturally, the top latches smoothly and easily. I curse, the tech smiles and laughs good naturedly and we both comment on how it will happen again the second I leave the dealership.

Well it has and it hasn't. I think I've developed a theory and want some input. I usually lock my top on my driveway, which is slightly slanted to the right. It's always tough to lock there. In the garage, which is flat, it's smooth as silk. Does anyone else notice that the top's a pain to lock when the car isn't on a completely flat surface?

I usually pull the top down with the left hand and close the latch with the right hand to minimize the wear in the latch.

my latch was fine until i took it in for the pinhole in the soft top. after they changed it out, it can be tricky to latch the top now. i kind of got the hang of it, but before their fix, it was really easy.
