looks great op! I also noticed when I installed my Brembo's on my z that I had to stomp on the brakes for them to work. it just doesn't have the initial biTe that my factory non Brembo's had. I'm guessing is because I have the rubber lines still. I'm hopping that Braded steel lines will fix that.

This car needs some nismo LMGT4's.

GT Rays are nice alloys but look small and tame with the v3 kit.

I appreciate the confirmation. Does the master cylinder differ on Brembo models vs non Brembo? I was thinking of replacing the lines with steel braided lines also as well as some higher performance pads since the pads that are in there are unknown

When I first got the Brembo's I bought some autozone discs and pads and my barking power was inferior to oem 2 piston brakes. Now I got stoptech discs and pads and I noted a big differeceived 8n braking power, but it still lacks the initial bite. The original lines that work with the nismo brakes are solid (metal)* lines. What I'm using and what the regular z brakes use are rubber which expand.

I have 300zx tt brakes on my 05 Maxima - similar brakes to the Brembos (4 pot). I installed ceramic pads and the bite became much better. I also have braided steel brake lines on the front. I may try the ceramic pads on the Z or maybe Hawk pads which I used in my racing days.

The original lines on the Nismo Z are partially steel and partially rubber. I had to order a line for the rear brakes and its rubber. Its only about a foot. The front brakes have quite a bit of rubber lines like the non-nismo Z. I imagine steel lines would make a difference. Maybe the Nismo guys can chime in here.

I began the fiddly process of mating the replica Nismo wing to the trunk. After the paint cured overnight, I brought both bits to the living room. I bought some rolled rubber window seal from Lowes and placed it on the mating surface of the wing to keep water from getting in the trunk. I notched the seal for the bolts holes. Then I inverted the wing and the placed the top of the trunk on top of the bottom of the wing (benefits of not having a wife !!!). I got 3 bolts in but the remaining bolt holes will need to be modified to have them line up. Ill try a rasp bit for my drill and see if that will work. Also, Im going to use bolts rather than the phillips screws that came with the wing.

Pic of rubber seal under the wing:

After work, Ill try to get all of the bolts in place and, if I'm really lucky, Ill mount the winged trunk to the car!

Well....I got lucky. After wiggling the trunk on top of the wing, and getting some slightly longer bolts, with the help of a larger drill bit to open the holes, I got the wing bolted to the trunk. The rubber seal helped firm it up. My son and his friend lifted the heavy unit and positioned it to the trunk hinges and I bolted it to the car. After a quick wash, I snapped pics of the first Nismo V3 spoiler to ever grace a 350z roadster. When I hosed the car off, I noticed the water gather in front of the wing and ran off the sides of the car which means the rubber seals were keeping water from getting underneath the wing as designed. I drove it about 15 miles, up to about 80 mph and it stayed on!!!

The bad news is that it blocks my rear view. The good news is that I get to stare at that lovely wing in my rearview mirror.

I suppose I should post pictures eh?

Feel free to comment, good, medium, or bad. I love it...thats my opinion.

I still need to do some wet sanding, especially the top of the trunk where I filled the v1 wing holes and blended the paint. at some point I will probably paint the entire car so it is all one brand new kh3 color.

While I wait to finish the center console, I want to direct my attention to getting the roof to work. what I need to do is get into the mechanism and look up the connectors that you disconnect in order to bring the roof up manually. I also need to hook up the arms that are on the sides of the roof. Cheers!

Agreed.

I'm a big fan of that wing - even if it prevents you from seeing the look of disappointment on people's faces when you leave them behind.

kham - Thanks. Hunt around on craigslist and ebay and make an offer they can't refuse. Remember g35 brembos fit too, so search G/Z forums.

travlee - Thank you too. The 06+ headlights are expensive but Im looking for a good bargain. I like the JDM tails but they are $500-600.

Heel - Thank you as well. I agree. The wing also blocks headlights. Its kinda hard to see if cops are back there though.....

Still looking for Nismo rims. Im curious how it will look with the top down. Ill work on that this weekend. I manually put the top up by following the Service Manual procedure. I disconnected one grey connector on each side, and disconnected the arms on each side. I think the top didnt go up on its own because I replaced the seats without plugging in the white control box. I think if I can access the connectors and the arms, and attach them back, the top may work. Any suggestions on how to do this? I have read conflicting info that the top cannot be manually put down and also that there is a way to do this that is not in the Service Manual.

Man. I must admit I was skeptical at first but I think this build is well executed. Your attention to detail is commendable! Good work . You also need a front support brace like on the real nismo. Again. Good stuff.

Hey Deus, did you know that Lexus uses those exact Auteck dampers on some of their Hybrid Vehicles. I saw one on the front of a Lexus CT200 and asked the salesman what they were. He asked another sales guy, then the sales manager, then a service guy, then the service manager. They all said that I was the first person to have ever asked about them in all their years with Lexus. So Deus, just do these things do?

They must control some type of lateral motion? or transfer some motion? or absorb something? or what?? The guys at Regency Lexus are curious to know.

Thanks Clubhopper.

So up until today, I was happy to ride in any and every car. But now, seeing how cool and ingenious this theory is, I won’t be able to stand being in any car without these.

Jennifer....that link describes the damper function. It seems to work as the car is now very smooth. As we discussed earlier, I wonder how it works in conjunction with the roadster vibration dampers.
