I have used 303 vinyl protectant with outstanding results in the interior and on the top.

I've been using Raggtopp Cloth Protectant. If you do a search you'll see that there's still some debate over the tops material. To date I haven't heard of either vinyl or cloth protectant hurting the top, but the ZR's only been out for about a year.

I use 303 on the top and on the interior vinyl. Happy with the results. I have a CS roadster with blue top (build date 12/03). It pretty apparent with the blue top that it is a vinyl material made with to appear like a cloth top. I haven't checked out the black tops or tops from earlier builds so I'm haven't a clue why there's a cloth/vinyl debate.

Anyway...303 !!!

I grant you there has been extensive debate as to what the top is made of, but...when I got my 1/04 built Roadster, I wrote Nissan asking for a definitive answer. A representative called me up and said it was cloth.

...and the debate goes on. There is a post from 350ZMotoring.com gives additional info.

http://www.350zmotoring.com/forums/s...?threadid=9211

Here's an extract:

"Nissan does refer to the top as a cloth top. Which half of that is indeed true. The only info I have is from my dealer and my own top. The vinyl on my top is actually ripping away from the fabric CLOTH underlayment. It is a thin mil. vinyl. It is textured on the outside (what you see) but underneath it is as smooth as a trashbag, and about as thick."

Assuming this is true, the top is both vinyl and cloth, and everyone is right, but the outside which needs protection is vinyl.

okay inspected the inside and outside top and now I agree...the inside of the top DOES feel like cloth and the outside has a definite vinyl "sheen". I like it when everybody's right but now does that mean we gotta use a cloth protectant on the inside and vinyl protectant on the outside? Makes one pause to consider whether Nissan has interests in car care companies - haha.

nah, you probably dont need to protect the inside, unless you like to spill stuff upwards all the time......(or like to turn the top inside out)

If you're spilling stuff on your roof I think that would be the least of your problems. Getting the car turned over may be of more value than protecting the roof at that point.
