Question Need help/ideas on whistling prob.

I've done a search, and the whistling which suddenly appeared this a.m. on my '04 touring roadster is different from other reported problems.

It isn't the air intake, b/c the sound is clearly coming from air flow w/the top down, and it isn't related to rpm, as it will occur strongly (have to turn Bose up LOUD to cover it up) at about 60-75 mph at any gear avail. at that speed, but at about 80, "regular" highway wind noise drowns it out. I know wind and your ears can play funny tricks on you, but it SEEMS to be coming from the front center top dash, or possibly the passenger dash or door. And yes, I've turned everything else completely off (HVAC shut down to point no air whatsoever is coming out any vent) and I haven't been able to see anything out of order w/air flow under the hood that could be causing the prob. Any ideas/help? I was in the car for about 250 mi. of highway driving today, and it's getting on my nerves.

I have the same problem at around 80 mph.

I thought it was the air stream, but I later figured out that it is the rear gears.......I am pretty sure anyways

I'm about positive that mine is airflow. My wife also has a new Z roadster, and hers doesn't make the noise, but she drove mine last night, and she heard it, too, and in the same location. The proof that it is the airflow is that the sound disappears when you roll up ONLY the right window with the top down. I've had several friends look at my car to see if anything I might not have thought of could be diverting the air flow on the front passenger cabin/dash/door, but no dice.

I was going to get a service appt for tomorrow a.m., but I was afraid that I'd either be told they didn't hear anything at all and think I was crazy, or that it would be something obvious, and they'd think I was an idiot. In any event, if it doesn't go away soon, I'll have to make that appt anyway.
