Default intake whistling sound

Just put on a pop charger. Whats the cause of this? Im not reffering to the sucking noise. Just the whistle coming from the intake.

First off Id like to say the whistle noise is BADASS, sounds like a small turbo spoiling up or some stuff.

To answer your question tho, the whistling noise happens when your car reaches higher rpms it sucks in MUCH more air causing the intake to make that slight whistle. Iam pretty sure thats right but if not im sure someone will correct me

Is it the air being cut by the MAF sensor?

What you are hearing is the throttle plate...

Hold your throttle in at varying positions when you're crusing along...

Sometimes you can hear it, Sometimes you can't..

Sometimes it's louder, Sometimes it's quieter...

All based on the angle the intake charge is rushing over it.

But wouldn't you think you would hear that with the stock airbox? The whistling starts at @3000 where there really isn't a difference in airflow between stock and the Pop. The whistle is pretty load so I doubt the stock airbox would muffle all of that. I think its the design of the filter, causing the air to hit the MAF plate differently, playing it like a musical instrument. Just a theory. Somebody needs to take the filter off and rev it up a few times to see.

I have this as well ... almost thought it was valvetrain rattle ... very unnerving ... until we popped the hood and punched it a few times. Put you head by the popcharger and there it is ...

Agreed that if you know what it is, it is cool... if you just had your engine taken apart and only hear it now, VERY unnerving !!! That was my case ... but the pop went on at the same time. I took the pop off and put the airbox on and the noise went away ... all is good ...

The turbo comment is EXACTLY how I decribed it !!!

I installed my pop charger 2 weeks ago and did not disconnect the negative terminal and no CEL.Thats good. I have not heard the whistle that some of you have mentioned and was wondering why? I am sure the ecu has made the adjustment to the popcharger on its own(I think). Any input on the whistle sound is appreciated.
