Default Anyone got an oil change yet?

Im know I need to put my flame suit on, but the dealer got me concerned. Says that the Z is going to cost more than the other Nissan cars. What are you guys paying for an oil change, be great if we could get it for standard or synthetic. If anyone has gone to synthetic, is it running cooler?

The only reason that it would cost more to maintain a Z vs any other Nissan would be if the oil change interval was shorter than the others. Makes sense for the high performance engine to require oil change more often than the low power, economy 4-banger.

Why would synthetics run cooler? They're supposed to last longer, not break down as easily.

Same price unless it's synthetic. I take my own oil in considering the dealer was going to charge $9/qt for Valvoline synthetic.

Why would the Z cost more to change the oil in? A VQ is a VQ no matter which model it's in. That's why I keep my stealership far away from my vehicle as much as possible.

These engine use Ester oil that is also used in the GTR...Nissan says the only thing close to this is amsoil. I would recommend using the Nissan Ester HP oil or else you will get Ticking noises in the valve train..and less performance. This is a problem already in the G37 with people going into jiffy lube and getting low quality oil and complaining there engine is ticking. So spend the extra $10.00 a qt unless you rather have a ticking engine.

What?!? So much is wrong with your post. Nissan does not use an ester-base oil in any of their cars. The GT-R comes with M1 0W-40, not an ester-base oil. Amsoil stopped using ester oils as their base stock many, many years ago and is a PAO based oil. The "special" oil for the VHR engine that Nissan is slinging for around $10-12/qt is a conventional oil with an ester additive. There are many oils which use esters as additives for much less than what Nissan is raping their customers for, and many happy customers not using Nissan's overpriced conventional oil.

I am using PP 5w-30 in both of my 370Z's and no valve clatter.
