Suggestions needed for Track Wheels on 350Z Nismo
on my enkey setup with 255/275 tires you should be ok.. with 275 all around I'm not sure you'll have enough space to don't touch the fender upfront with the tire sidewall..
you'll need to check the rear if you need some fender rolling (I didn't with the kumhos but I'll need it to use less negative camber in the rear)
in the front besides being lowered probably 1.5 inches I added 1 degrees of negative camber going from 2 to 3....
even braking HARD with race pads isn't an issue...

I have also thought about the camber arm. I decided to do the mods only when I get the adjustment plate on the top. I do not want to crawl under the car to adjust the settings.
I've seen a few used sets of wheels for sale, FN01R-C, etc., that would allow you to run 275s and rotate. I've been trying to get my local buddy to pony-up, so keep sending him links to good deals. They're out there.
i would suspect a lot of 'roll' with 17" & the side wall height
also a 17" then limits you in BBK upgrades in the future..
i would suggest a 18x9.5 with anywhere between a +18 to +25 with a 265/35 all the way around..
cheap and decently light 5zigen FNR01-Cs

will clear bbks up to 14", and have some decent concavity too

edit: saw all the other posts on page 2. aha.. if u dont want togo 14" bbk, then 17 would suffice.. but imho, the Z needs 18s....

At the moment, I am a beginner. I have only done about 7 track days so far. I am pretty happy with the way the car drives now. The driving factor for changing wheels was to reduce cost of the tires.
Nothing on the car is a limiting factor at the moment, but its the driver, ME

Since most of my questions have already been answered in this thread, I figured I will continue my next question also in this thread.
I have stock wheels and Potenza RE-11's mounted on them. I have about 2000 street miles and 7 track days (550-600 track miles) on the tires. However, the outer patch of the front tires are wearing faster than the inners.
One of the experienced folks at a recent autox that I went to had a look at my tires and said I have a feathering issue and that I might need more negative camber or positive castor. But then he doesn't know about Z and felt I need to get it checked. I have stock alignment and nothing has been changed.
What the steps I need to take?
* I am thinking about getting my alignment checked at one of the chain tire shops and buying a 2-3 yr alignment package and getting my alignment done to stock specs
* Get an aftermarket camber arm + top adjustible camber plate (?? is that what its called) so that I can adjust the camber at track and change it back before I leave the track
* I am not sure if the shops will allow me to buy alignment package with the above option
* I have an extended warranty that I have purchased for the car when I bought it. It's a 6 yr / 72K mile warranty. Will the above camber adjustments void my warranty?
Following are some pictures of the tires

only pic 1 works dawg. Need to fix others.
And yeah, judging by the 1st pic it looks like you're wearing out the outsides a lot. Meaning you need more negative camber. I'll let others comment on the camber arms as I don't know too much about them. But there is a good thread about camber arms out there .
Also there's another thread about Nismo Z's alignment specs being off from the factory. You should read that too.

Incorrect. TCS is not VDC. TCS is all by itself. If you have VDC then you have TCS as well. But if you have TCS you do not have VDC. The NISMO does not have it and only has traction control. Which can be turned off.
I personally would get 18" wheels (RPF1s) just because you will probably want to upgrade your brakes later to something better and 17"s won't allow you to do that.

Negative buddy, turning off the TCS will disable VDC (its the same thing). Your free to burn out as much as you like with that turned off!
As for the guy with the Nismo, hes another Z here in Houston, ive seen his car a few times. Im 99.9% sure they are 17's, by look and for the reason that he built his Z for the track, so like Scott says, 17's are the optimal choice for track not only for weight purposes, but overall cost, and cheaper tires as well.
The 17's should clear the Brembos just fine. I pmed you his s/n, so im sure he'll help you out with whatever ?'s you may have for building your Nismo to tackle the track.
G/L buddy, and although u are new, its obvious you already know a hell of alot more than many new folks on this forum.

Many here do 275 all around with track wheels/tires. And you can rotate them. I believe the size of the RPF1s are 18x10.5 with 15mm offset and 275 all around that everyone uses without a problem. Friend had it on his and no issues. I plan to get it as well.
The problem with that setup is that I will not be able to rotate the tires. The whole point of getting dedicated track wheels is to maximize the life of the tires and spend as little as possible on the tires. Ideally I would like to go 265 all around but I am not too sure if it is possible without any changes to the car
Don't want to do any kind of body changes, want to keep it stock
I have also thought about the camber arm. I decided to do the mods only when I get the adjustment plate on the top. I do not want to crawl under the car to adjust the settings.

+1 cause i know i have 17's over my 14inch 6 piston brake kit. Also to the person a couple posts up, get camber arms if possible. As long as you don't run in the stock class for autocross, just get them and align to -1.5 to -2.0
Sorry about the photo links, they are now fixed.
Please try to answer my questions in post #53 or point me in right direction
I am gonna ask one more dumb question .... is the SLIP light the result of TCS on Nismo?
I am all set on RPF1's as my wheels. I too would like to have 18's but the only reason I am leaning towards 17's is that they are cheaper. At this point I see no reason to upgrade to big brake kit. I am pretty happy with stock brakes, there is alot more the car can do in stock form. I am sure I am nowhere near the limits of the car.
Regarding the 275's, are you talking about Nismo's at stock height without any adjustments? It didn't look like 275's would fit in the front. Do you know of anybody with a Nismo who runs 275's (at the track) all around with stock settings?

Yes, the Slip is due to the TCS kicking in. Turn that off and it won't be a issue.
People have run 275s on stock and lowered cars all around. Many pictures here with them on cars.
I have out grown my Brembos already at the track, and will eventually upgrade. Some have 285s in front.
I believe, there was someone here that did 275s on a nismo all around. But off hand I don't know who it was. But it won't matter if it's a NISMO or not, the car is the same as the 350z.
