As for giving moderation powers to respected forum members - it was just a few month ago when the admins sent out a call for volunteers. Several new moderators were chosen but I don't recall seeing your name on the list of candidates as I certainly would have voted for you.
I see a lot of posts in this thread about the trolls and flaming but to tell you the truth, lately there hasn't been many Reported Posts. Now that the Street forum is gone, you can't come back and blame the problem on something when you didn't report it back when you had the chance.

I know I'll miss the street racing thread, it was one of the most entertaining threads on this site. We should vote on it.

Thats why they bought a sports car.....to pick up stuff at home depot and wal-mart
Street racing kills so few people on the road its laughable to see such a "street racing kills everyone who sees it happen" ---- drunks, make-up artists, cell phone bandits and the like cause more accidents and kill more people than all the actual "street races" ---- two teens going 80 in a residential in their geo metros is hardly a street race....but somehow thats how the bad press gets national attention

If people are educated about what really happens during a street race, they will think twice and have more options to consider before they start layin' rubber.
Ignorance is what kills. Education saves lives. When you eliminate an entire section and prevent a discussion of what happens during a race, "street racing" becomes mystified and all some kid has to go on is what they saw on Fast n Furious where one can crash their 350z over a cliff and walk away from it without endangering their life. With a good discussion, whoever is reading it will get the idea that its not that way in real life.
I know some smart-asses will say but that's just common sense..... but how do you suppose one gets "common sense"? "Common sense" is something that gets repeated over and over til one gets it ingrained in their head and THEN it becomes "common sense". If there is no discussion, then one will have to rely on "fast n furious" for their common sense when faced with a challenge to race. When the challenge comes up, its too late to think..... you either got the sense or you don't. So if the issue of street racing was never discussed, then its pedal-to-the-metal cuz the only reference point was the glamorous street racing that was shown in "fast n furious".
For example.......
There was a recent thread in the now defunct "street" section where some guy was in a race with his lil' brother and friend in the passenger seat. The guy who posted the story was so focused on "racing", he wrote about his "passengers" as a mere afterthought. It woulda been a cool story, BUT a few people noticed that he had "passengers" and called him out on that. Most everyone thought that sucked that he had "passengers" (2 in the passenger seat) while street racing. While I don't remember the exact words, the guy who wrote the story admitted that it was unsafe.
As far as I'm concerned, several lives were saved because of that post. The "passengers" who might be riding with him in the future, the guy himself, and people reading the story. THE "STREET" SECTION SAVES LIVES!!
After reading something like that, its information that stays inside your head. So when a similar situation is encountered, those that were educated about that scenario will have options to decide what to do and knowing that their actions will affect their loved ones, they will choose to back off the gas pedal.
That's how a "street" section saves lives. People will point out the dangers and "argue" a bit and maybe get a bit childish at times, but in the end, the person who is thinking about "street racing" will be much more aware knowing the dangers involved.
Had there not been a "street" forum, that guy would still be oblivious of his actions that threaten the lives of his loved ones in the passenger seat cuz of his tunnel vision. He woulda went on doing it again. The people who commented in the thread expanded his perception of his driving enviroment and he now is more aware and will drive safer because of it.
Just think about how many teenage mothers got pregnant cuz they didn't werent' educated enough to consider options so they just went with their emotions? Its the same with "street racing". If one never had a forum to discuss what really happens during a street race, then you'll just go with your emotions and ego and risk life and limb.

Needs :
1. good moderation
2. Better rules - "if you dont like street racing dont read this section" doesnt cut it
Basic rules that all street forums should have:
1. No Hypotheticals- Only Post Racing stories or encounters. An encounter that will come in the future should be posted about after the race has taken place
2. Uncivilised discussion that is not related to the OP's story Should be deleted or locked if entire thread has turned into a debate on something else.. I.E. Race story of 350s and RSX, honda owner gets offended and Pots video of turboed 93 integra which has nothing to do with original topic.
Debate and discussion on Original cars in Topic should remain open.
3. C5s are better should have is posts limited to 50 words and once every 10 minutes

I personally haven't read any of these pages b/c I don't care enough, but I think that it is sad that a bunch of grown men and women need to be told or have their hands held so that they aren't encouraged to street race. I'm sorry but if you can afford the insurance on a Z then one would hope that you have the brains to decide for yourself what is and is not a good idea, as well as when risks can and cannot be taken. I agree with the guy who says that this is just another case of American nannying other people. No offense mods, but that just how I view it.

So take your street racing and kill stories somewhere else..

There are other 350z forums out there, you know? There is one that actually has a very logical structure for finding specific information without having to sift through random search results. They also have a kill section. They even pay their bills on time.
