Talking Why are 350z's so expensive in the Philippines

One of my friends was telling me about the great prices in the Philippines, but when I was searching for 350Z's I was shocked at the price, more than 3x's the cost of Z's I regularly see on craigslist.

For instance:
http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/vi...lKeywords=350z

It seems like the 350z's on Sulit are 3.5x's more. $35,000 usd, vs $10,000 usd

Is there some kind of super expensive tax on cars in the Philippines?

Everything seems great in the Philippines but I wish cars weren't so much.

The high price points for cars in Asian countries are caused by a cost-inflating combination of exorbitant excise duties and a protectionist policy aimed at boosting the local automotive industry, much to the chagrin of average-wage consumers who desire quality rides for a fair fee.

pretty hard to believe when the exchange rate from dollar to peso is so high. two yrs ago when i was there i felt like i could afford a lot of things that would otherwise be considered expensive in the US.

sounds like a perfect, legit reason to **** your own people in the @ss when it comes to buying a nice rides... no I take that back, decent mig grade sports compact,... I'd hate to see what a Chrysller 300 or a Mustang/Camaro/ Challenger goes for.
