i'm hoping to put my screen and ps2 in by the end of the week. my only question is how to connect the wire. the screen has the plug with the red connector on the end. and then it came with an ac adapter that has a plug that connects with the red plug.

i'm planning on just splicing the power to the 12 volt power that connects to my radio. for the power wire, should I cut the wire that goes out of the screen before the red plug, or should i cut the wire that is part of the ac adapter? also is there any better place to hook the power up to, and do i need an inline fuse (if so how many amps)?

The screen should have a small red and black wire coming from the screen. Hook the red wire to a positive lead, connect the black wire to the radio case.(there are some srews on the outside that hold the radio in the case. All of the wires inside of the car run through the fuse box. I reccomend hooking everything up through the cigarette lighter wires. It has a 15 amp fuse, it can handle running a power inverter, screen and a FM modulator.

 

alright i took a picture of the wires just to show what im talking about. there's no just red and black power wire, it's together with a red plug at the end which allows it to easily connect with the black plug on the power adapter. so I have two options, to cut the wire on the power adapter side, or the wire coming out of the screen side. which do you think is better to do? i'm thinking the red plug side, so the red and black plug dont have any chance of coming off each other.

 

That's wierd. I have the Farenheit 7000 and it just had one video input and the small red and black wires. It almost looks as though that's for home use not auto use. Maybe they changed the design of it since I bought mine.

Now that I look at it, it looks as though that screen is set-up like a normal TV, RED=right audio, WHITE=left audio, YELLOW=video. I think that black pug is where the AC adapter plugs in.

 

red is power, yellow and white are video inputs, and black is video output. it's a 7001, so maybe the wiring is different than the 7000.

 

Wow that's alot different than the 7000. I was always under the inpression that the 7000 and the 7001 were the same exact screen except for the number of video inputs/outputs.

Sorry I can't be of more help here, I can only go off the experience I had with mine.

 

Is the a/c adapter a 12 volt, if it is you should be able to cut the wires in between the adapter and the red plug, the problem is finding out which wires are positive and negative, they will probably bothe be black. Heres what you do.

1. Get an Ohm meter, set it to detect d/c current
2. Plug in the a/c adapter, don't attach it the the screen.
3.Take a small bobby pin and stick it into the wires
4.Touch one wire to the bobby pin, touch the other to the body of the car(find a good ground spot, such as an unpainted bolt)

If the ohm meter spikes that is the positive wire, because the ground/negative is coming from the cars body. If it doesn't test the other wire.
