Default Sony HU Replaces Bose 6CD w/ Navigation

Well, I had read a lot of writeups about replacing the upgrade Bose (6 cd changer) headunit and I was scared that either I'd lose GPS functionality or that the stock Bose speakers/subwoofer/amps would no longer function.

I ended up ordering a new headunit off Crutchfield which included wiring harnesses and everything! Not only do my speakers and subwoofer/amp still work, but they sound even better with the new headunit and built in 7-band equalizer!! And the GPS still works, except the voice doesn't function -- no biggy, she annoyed me anyways!!!

My main reason for the upgrade was to have an AUX-in connect for my iPod. Although I made my casette adapter setup (http://photobucket.com/albums/v200/shahrum/350Z/iPod/) look somewhat decent, the sound quality was awful. Especially after getting a 40gb iPod for Xmas, I wanted my stereo to sound good with it. Speaker upgrades are in store for later on, but I'll be enjoying this in the mean time!

Check out my pics!

If you want the voice to still work, simply hhok a speaker directly to the output of the nav. Yes, it will drive it without an amp. If your new HU has a mute function for phone, you can use that to mute your system if you want. That's the way mines hooked up.
