Default Help Me Finish My System!

Sup guys, I need some of you video/audio gurus to help me plan the completion of my system in my Z.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT I HAVE NOW:
Sony WX-4500X Head Unit (want to replace)
JL 10W7 (Hooked up)
JL 500/1 AMP (Hooked up)
JL 300/4 AMP (Waiting for components)
New 20G IPOD (Want to use)

WHAT I PLAN ON GETTING:
JL XR650-Cxi
JL XR650-Csi
2003 Z Nav Cluster
Yellow Top Battery

WHAT I NEED :
1.) A screen for the nav cluster (Heard of a few, any recommendations?)

2.) A decent Alpine unit (doesn't have to be expensive) that will take advange of the IPOD and have an aux input for the screen/PS2

3.) Is there a way for me to wire the PS2 so it doesn't have to be plugged in the cig lighter? (I want to put it in the glovebox behind the passenger seat)

4.) Any other equipment that I should pay attention to? (Certain type of wires to use, power inverters, good wireless controllers, etc?)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know this may seem a little long, but recently I've fallen in love with my Z again and have been going wild (recently got a tint, ordered a cf hood, springs, overlays)
Thanks in advance

just curious...why JL speakers? (they sound a bit bright but just my opinion)

lots of people like boston acoustics, and especially focals.

good luck with your system! (nice amps btw esp the 500/1)

Fehrernhiet makes a nice screen for the nav spot

I don't know much about new alpine gear, but I used to have a 7995 and liked it a lot. I would suggest a Pioneer HU, they are cheaper and also have Ipod support and both XM and Sirius (as of CES 2005). I'd suggest the 7000/700 series or better.

For your PS2, you can hardwire an inverter to the back of the cigarette ligheter (I did this for both my laptop and V1 radar) and hide the setup nicely.

Wires don't matter as long as they are well shielded (and look nice if they show) WalMart stocks a nice inverter for $16 that'll do the job.

I don't know much about controllers, I have used logitech wireless and they were nice.

If you need some help with anything ... I am down in SD and have done most of this before ... don't hesitate to ask.

I know how you feel about modding the car ... mine all happened in the matter of a few months ... now I just gotta get around to installing my Vortech

I'm a little confused about aux inputs...Will the ipod take up the aux input, or will I be able to run a ps2 and an Ipod with the Alpine or Pioneer HUs?

I've got a 7998 with the ipod hookup. It works thru the AI-Net connection. The unit doesn't have any RCA Aux. inputs built-in. Supposedly, you can get an AI-Net splitter to use two AI-Net devices, which I would assume would allow you an aux. input. I love my Alpine. The controls for the Ipod are a little funny, not the best. If it were me, I'd have a look at the Pioneer once they come out with their Ipod interface. It's supposed to be better than Alpine's according to what I've read. Their headunits are pretty slick too. I like the look of the double-din piece they have. Oh, and one more vote for Boston Acoustics by the way! They sound miles better than the JL components I've heard.

With the Alpine, you can have two AiNet devices (CD changer, MD changer, etc.) and two other audio sources that connect via RCAs. It is a KCA-410C, and it works pretty well once you set it up properly.

It's expensive too. That piece alone is something like $400!

Shop around a little. I got mine for right at $100 from Crutchfield. It was a scratch and dent special, but it didn't have any flaws when I got it, and it worked perfectly. I might be going with a Japanese Sony unit to blend with the gauges better, so it might be out the door.
