Default Navigation/DVD System

I posted this question in the electronics/modifications forum, but nobody responded. Basically I'm just looking for a navigation system that'll play dvd's. My only requirements are that it talks to me (preferably in a hot female voice, haha) and that I can play dvd's while the car is moving. Any help is appreciated.

I have the factory nav....Love the woman's voice, but I was told there is no way that it can be converted to use DVDs.....There are a number of posts in the past on the subject....Do a search....Good luck to you, Dave

I just read a review on that Pioneer system and it said that the cooling fan on it makes it really loud. Anybody got any other suggestions? How about a Kenwood?

The Kenwood DDX7015 is a good indash screen that will play DVDs, but you need the KNA-DV4100 for navigation (which you can install out of sight.) I have it set to the British chick's voice, and I love it

How much did you pay for it? Is it touch screen?

I guess my other question is about the different types of GPS systems. A friend of mine has one where you type in an address and it'll basically tell you where to turn, etc. It'll also bring up the closest gas stations and restaurants.

Kenwood or Pioneer is the best choice. I'm going for the Kenwood cause it's a double din and has a touch screen.

The Kenwood DDX7015 is a double DIN touch screen. Yes, you can enter the address and it will tell you where to turn, and if you miss a turn, it will tell you what to do instead, etc. There is also an Eclipse double DIN unit, that has navigation built in (unlike the Kenwood's seperate unit) but you cannot play DVDs and navigation at the same time (I don't think) it shares the same disk drive for the 2, but it has another slot for a CD to play music while navigating.

The Pioneer AVIC is a touchscreen, with no fan noise (you do hear a minscule fan cycle off after a system power off...but if the car is on...nothing). It has all the special nav features (reroute, the oh so hot ladies voice over, telephone # search, POI searches, address book, voice recognition, it does it all). Back up camera is a nice option too, for only about $200 more, well worth it. The best upgrade to the system...a guage display. You get another speedo, but you also get lateral and acceleration Gs, clock, direction, voltage, etc....you choose the 2 guages you want, speedo is a default.

Only drawbacks...the MP3 changer cataloged, isn't yet available. The NAV disc runs from the mail head unit, where before it had it's own player, so you could use the full nav system while using the DVD/CD/MP3 player...can't do that with AVIC-N2...at least until the changer arrives in the USA...I hear they're on a boat.

I have two, the N1, 2years old in Dodge 2500 diesel and the N1...brand new in my Z. I love 'em.
