Boston Pro60 Component Install
I finished installing my new Boston Pro60 components. The install was pretty easy, they fit great in the 350z, and they sound amazing. Sorry--no pics.
I used 1" Metra spacers for the woofers. Just mounted the spacer to the door with the hardware that came with the spacer. Then I screwed the woofers into the spacers. Didn't need to drill any new holes. Fit great and very tight. The woofers clear the window just fine.
I installed the Boston tweeters in the stock tweeter location. This took some more work. I used a dremel to clean up the back of the triangle shaped panel, then I used a 1 3/4" hole saw to cut the holes to flush mount the tweeters. Hot glue gunned the tweeters from the back of the panel, and they hold great.
The Boston crossovers are kinda big, but I was able to install them inside the door panels and attached them with heavy duty velcro. I put them just behind the wiring grommet in the door. I had to cut a rib from the door panel to allow enough clearance.
These are excellent component speakers and a huge improvement over the crappy stock bose speakers. I'm running a Xtant 2.2 to them and they pump out lots of mid bass and silky highs. Highly recommended for the 350z.
My next steps--dynamat inside the door panels and upgrade from the stock speaker wire.

Awesome choice!!! The only Boston Pro speaker I haven't bought yet is the Pro60s. I've got all the other series dating back to the original like in 1994....
Anyway - dynamat the **** out of the doors, especially right behind the speaker.

I finished the dynamat today and it came great. I installed regular dynamat on the inside of the door panels and under the strut bar cover to get rid of some vibrations. It took a couple of hours to put it in, but it's well worth it. Really cleaned up the sound.

Did you triple layer behind the front speakers. If not I highly recommend it for better front mid response. Again - great choice in component speakers. And if you think the Pro60 crossovers are big - check out the Reference Z6 crossovers - they are massive!
