Default POS Bose

Ok, here goes my series of questions for the group. I have been doing some research on the POS Bose System in my 03 350Z. The word from the campfire is that if I put in an aftermarket deck, to replace the re-labelled Clarion junk, that I should take out the in-line amplifiers to the speakers. Is this true? Sounds right to me due to their being underpowered.

Second, I have seen some people discuss installing a new Sub behind the Driver's Seat, and adding an amp. Is this a good idea, and where do you put the Amp to drive the sub? Any suggestions on this?

The damn Audio Pilot turns down the stereo when I slow down. This is driving me crazy, with no info in the manual for my year, and no quick fix in the Audio Controls. Anyone know how to turn this crap off?

OK, one more. If I hook up a Infinity Basslink or Infinity BassLink T
would that work?

It all depends on what you want from your system… I wasn’t happy with the speakers but they sound fine to me I just wanted more bass. All I did was added 2 subs and to the stock bose system. Basslink is going to take up space and waste of $$ and will not give you that big of an impotent. Sub box in behind the drivers seat also sounds horrible. 1) its firing the in a small space with no air to be moved around. 2) its firing towards the car and into your back witch will give you a headache quick. Here is what I got, I think that’s the best way to do it…. My .02

For the audio pilot there is a bulletin out for a new amp for the 03 z’s dealer changes it free of charge. I could tell a LITTLE difference when they changed mine but my audio pilot was never as bad as your describing.

And if you want a sub box that goes under the strut bar, I can get 1 custom built for you for around $160.

Use the cubbys for amps. Install subs in the back, either in the strut tower box or in the tire well.

Preferably you would rip out everything and start from scratch. Dampening/sound proofing, Power wiring, speaker wiring, Amps, Head unit, RCA's, components, Sub box, sub, etc. If you want to keep the HU and go a cheaper route you can use the high input of most amps or line out converters to convert your HU output to an input suitable for the amp and speakers/sub. This may be tricky with Bose as amps are already involved and you want to bypass them, but I'm sure you can find helpful posts here that have already conquered that issue. I would guess you need to tap into the output of the HU as close to the HU as possible. Then run these wires back to the cubby and into the Hi input of the amp.

Yes, you can. you dont need to cut any thing... There is a prodect out there that you can just hook up to the bose system in the HU and it will give you RCA outputs. If you really want to do that then i will find the box and tell you what its called and the model.
