Default iPod for the Z

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody hard wired there iPod in there Z yet. I just got an iPod and the FM transmitter really sucks and I wanted to hard wire a connection in my Z. I know there is something called iCruz which you can install using the factory deck, but you need the cd changer. I have a stock deck but with no cd changer.
Anybody got any ideas how I can still get this done without changing the stock deck?
I have a 2004 Z without the Bose system. Thanks guys

Have you looked at the cassette input devices?

I have the iTune and it's subject to too much interference to make me happy.

I used a PAC AAI-AIS which connect directly to back of the factory radio if it's sattelite ready. The PAC allows for 2 RCA aux inputs I use one for my IPOD and one for my MyFi right now.

I don't have a cassette player and I don't believe I have the SAT ready either. I have a 2004 Base model Z. I really hate it. My old Z I had the bose system and it would of been ok. damn!!

Default iPod

So I checked with manufacturer of this product and they informed me that it will work on the Z with no cd changer and non-bose. Has anybody actually tried this and got it working?

Here is the site I got the info from...

Please SKIP the Griffin iTrip transmitter.

The thing suffers from poor power and multi-path interference even 40 miles out of the city in the sticks. It barely works sitting it on top of a desktop radio.

I used a pair of RCA's that went to the back of my Eclipse AVN2454 with the other end of the RCA's being a headphone jack. That way all I had to do was take the headphone jack and plug it in to the top of the iPod. It sounds like CD quality and fits nicely into where the stock nav area is. So much better than when I had to listen to it through the radio. I would try something like that.

Ah, the iPod problem. The one shortcoming of the Z. I installed an Alpine headunit with the iPod controller and it works great. Nice to be able to scroll through playlists, etc. through the radio buttons.

Ya post those pics man that be great. I finally got a screen in my Z with the iPod hook up but I have the iPod just sitting in the stock nav area. So I am looking for ideas to keep it up right in there (sideways of course).

Though the cup holder is the Z works well, I bought one of those iPod cup holders and I run the monster cable right over to that. But I don't like to leave it out when I park my Z

Hi, I'm SFZ's wife.

All you need is the Apine iPod interface. It costs about $99 and allows you to control you iPod through your hu. I ordered mine from Crutchfield.

It's totally worth it though. It's real nice to be able to go thru your playlists etc by using your hu vs messing with your IPod while driving around.
