Downgrading the system from two to one Infinity Perfect 10.1d subwoofer. Had a JL 1000/1 pushing both subs but think that was too much so I don't want to run a JL 500/1 and the 250/1 isn't enough power. Anyway, here are the specs on the subwoofer;
Power Handling, Peak: 1400W
Power Handling, RMS: 350W
Sensitivity: 94dB (In Car)
Frequency Response (± 1.5dB): 18Hz - 150 Hz
Frequency Response (±3dB): 18Hz - 150Hz
Impedance: 2 or 8 Ohms
Would like to keep it under $300 (eBay pricing). Thanks.

Competition = no... if I were, I wouldn't be downgrading my system ![Wink](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I already have the subwoofer, so that should tell ya what type of sound I'm looking for... just need a good clean amp to power it.

The competitions I've coached winners in have been based on woofer sizes so that some one with one 10" isn't battling some clown with ten 10" woofers.
Most amplifiers made by quality manufactures have inaudible amounts of distortion. It takes very sensitive lab equipment to measure distortion so low that no human on the planet would ever be able to hear. I've heard people enjoying the heck out of cheap amps running 5%-6% THD which to my trained ears sounded like a jack hammer being run down a chalk board - but the people listening enjoyed the experence.
Most people will tolerate 3% THD without even noticing. Amplifiers are being produced with THD's below 0.01% which is impossible to hear.
Personally I've had very good experience with Zappo amps going back 27 years. Good honest watts. But like I said any quality company is going to have a product that is indistinguishable from the next companies - they don't want you to know that and go through great pains to invent differences.
Speakers are hugely different between manufactures but amps is amps is amps.
YMMV
