Compustar Dealer WILL NOT install auto start on a Manual
So I find out there is one authorized installer/dealer in my hometown selling and installing Compustar alarms.
I call and ask a price installed for the top of the line Compustar. Your typical teenage know it all answers the phone.
2WSS-AS (alarm with remote start) (Manual transmission compatible)
http://www.compustar.org/security_with_remote_start.htm
Anyway, the dealer says $625 installed and I was like wow, thats a little high, I figured around $500 or so. Well I then ask about the manual start and he states our owner will not let us install remote start on Manuals, too much of a liabilty issue. WTF?
I was like, isn't Compustar the only authorized alarm for remote start on Manual Transmissions, he sounded like a typical teenage stereo dealer who does not know WTF he is talking about.
He wanted an additional $80 for a key something, and another $125 for the proximty sensor.
Any Compustar owners who have the 2wss-As alarm and had remote start installed on the manual? How much did it cost you total?
I also want a proximity sensor and a backup battery since I own the Roadster.
I hate incompetant dealers who charge outrageous prices and don't even do what the remote start is there for.
I contacted Compustar directly but have not received a reply about my complaint.
Thoughts?

This is what Compustar wrote back:
Our starters are safe on manuals, however, if it is installed incorrectly, there can be problems. For that reason, there are some shops that decide not to install on manuals for liabiltity reasons. I believe the shop in Longmont does. I'm not sure if that is too far away or not. Let me know if there is anything else we can help you with. Have a great day.
Yeah, okay, that tells me the dealer is INCOMPETANT at installing alarms!

I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to install this. They open themselves up to liability regardless of how competent they are. What if the alarm system is defective? Even though it is not their fault they would have to defend themselves in court which costs huge amounts of money.
