Default bridging MRP 350 and sub

I have an Alpine MRP 350 amp and it says in the specs that it runs 200w at 4ohms and 350 at 2ohms but am not quite sure how to get the amp to 2ohms. There is a diagram that shows to just run a single RCA from the HU split into both channels of the amp input but that didnt really seem to make a difference. Does the HU have to have the capabilities to brudge out of one of its outputs??

by the way I have an Alpine 9855 HU

Sub question... I am running a Alpine 1042D type R sub with it which I know is a bit underpowered with this amp but I also need to know how to situate the jumpers to have the dual voice coils wired for optimum performance.

Thanks in advance for the advice...
Brett

P.S. I am always able to get my answers from this site, you all have become invaluable for installing my new system.

This should help...

http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wiring/index.html

Follow the sub wiring for your impedance and then attatch the + and - wires to the channels labeled "bridged" on the amp output.

Thanks for the info, I think I understand at least the speaker wiring part. I just want to double check on the amp since it is a mono amp and isnt bridgeable to my knowledge. Like I said earlier, there is a diagram in the manual for the amp that shows a way to bridge using the RCA inputs but I am not sure if that is actually possible. If anyone who understands amps better than I would do me the favor and look at the diagram for this amp and let me know I would appreciate it very much.

So I am sure I am reading the JL diagram right. the way I situate the jumpers is how I change the ohms to the sub?

for example if my amp is rated to put out 600w rmsx1 at 2ohms, all I need to do is set the sub up in parrallel and I will get the 600w output?

Is that right? Sorry I am just getting myself confused with all this mono amp/ DVC stuff.

Thanks again for the help

That is correct. Since you have a mono amp that pushes 600 watts rms at 2 ohms, wire the sub as the JL Audio diagram has it and run the + and - wires to the + and - on the amp. Walla 600 watts pounding your head...
