Default Best way to connect ipod?

I want to know the best way to listen to my ipod in my Z.

I have a Pioneer Premiere deck, but it's a bit old, so there is no ipod compatible function.

I do not want to listen to it thru my FM tuner.

I will eventually get a new deck where I can control the tracks/vol on my headunit, but until then I want to know how I can hook up my ipod.

How much will it cost installed?
How is sound quality?

Does your Pioneer unit have an aux jack built in (front or back)? If so, you run it into the headphone jack on the iPod. The sound quality is better than the FM adapter, but not the best. It's about the same as using a cassete adapter, which I do in my SUV. In my Z, I have an Alpine that allows me to use the radio controls for the iPod. It's great - I love it. I hardly ever listen to the radio or cds.

Alpine's AI-net compatible head units coupled with their Ipod controller will yeild the best results, Bar-None. But you will be out $300+ for the setup. Well Worth it IMO.

I thought I remembered seeing a site once of a company that made direct hook ups for the ipod as an aftermarket addon? Not sure what it was wired too though, anyone else know of anything like this? I would love to find some reasonable way to get mine hooked up as well.

Does this unit show the song titles and allow you to search for songs by title or artist? Thanks.

Yes, the Alpines will allow you to search by title/artist/album. However, depending on the amount of music on the ipod it could take some time searching since the scrolling is fairly slow. Playlists work best, however, smart-playlists are not supported.. The model of Alpine will determine how many viewable lines appear at once (ie: Artist/Album/Song)..
