getting sound from xbox to stereo
I just got a spare xbox and farenheit screen, so after I mod the xbox and get the IDE cable, it is going in. How do I get sound from the xbox to my speakers? I'm running an Alpine 7995 but don't know if it has any aux inputs (I really don't think it has any RCA inputs). Any ideas? This is the only thing holding me up... thanks.

well itd help if you mention what inputs the screen has
what do you mean get the ide cable? dont get one thats tooo long, ide has limitations
also, iodnt know your setup, but they have a bios that allows you to eliminate the dvd drive. so if your doing a custom install ( no case, just components) then you can save some space.

the screen only has one video input... i've decided against a custom component setup which would make me use an IDE cable, I'm just gonna put it in the glovebox behind the driver...

by ide i think you mean VGA( DSUB 15 pin)
ide has i think 39 pins, its a ribbon cable for data transfer
your sound is going to have to go through you stereo, not the screen ( its not a a tv) it does not have a sound card. So what inputs does your deck have?

I don't know what inputs it has... I can't find that info online (or I'm overlooking it)
Here is my deck:

I am powering the xbox using a power converter and tapping off the cigarette lighter.

Use an FM modulator which will take your Xbox's sound out of the normal RCA cables (if it's like my PS2) and modulate (convert) it FM. You tune the modulator to an unused FM station and then tune your radio to that "new" FM station - your Xbox.
Use ones that connect in-line with your FM radio cable for best reception.

deja vu?

Many terms and synonyms for ATA exist, including abbreviations such as IDE, ATAPI, and UDMA. ATA standards only allow cable lengths up to 18 inches (up to 450 mm) although cables up to 36 inches (900 mm) can be readily purchased, so the technology normally appears as an internal computer storage interface. It provides the most common and the least expensive interface for this application.

With that deck that you have, you'll need the Alpine adapter that converts your AiNet input into a composite (rca) input. They have two types, I believe. One that provides just an rca input and one that allows you to retain the AiNet input and gain an rca input. There is also a expanded unit that will allow you to connect multiple sources (model KCA-410).
