Question Alarm

I just recently bought a clifford alarm with remote start and took it to Freeman's Car stereo, a local place from where im from and they said they couldnt install it. Has anyone else had a aftermarket alarm put it and it works ok? Should I just sell it and use the factory one? I herd it doenst work very well, I am about to put a $1200 touchscreen headunit in and dont want it stolen because I have to park outside my apt. Thanks

Aftermarket alarms should work. I have a Viper 5000. If you have a stick they probrably told you it wouldn't work because of the remote start.

Default Remote Start

If you drive a MT...just make sure the alarm or your installer has/adds a safety feature that doesn't allow your car to start while it's in gear or if your hood is open. That way, you can avoid any mishaps if you accidentally press the remote start & someone is standing next to the car or worst case, working on your engine.

Hey, i also have a clifford alarm.. and had it installed by the shop.. it workz great - one of the reasons i dont like the factory one is it is a passive alarm and too many people can figure out how to disarm it... the clifford alarm has proximity sensors so i can leave the top down and armed... i would recommend getting an alarm from a shop who knows how to install it.

Of course it works, what kind of a cheap a$$ place you went to?

I got mine installed with the whole 9-yards. Take a look at my signature.

IMO, I prefer to pay top-$ to avoid headaches: I went to arguably --the best shop in Colorado--. It took them 2 and a half days to get everything working 100%, (never mind the whole thing costed a fortune due to all the labor), but the system works and looks like a charm!

I am just awaiting the Next-Gen DEI GPS unit before I begin with the entertainment system.

Good luck and don't be fooled by incompetent shops.
