Valentine Research (makers of the Valentine One) is always making continuous upgrades to their V1 model. In the years the products have been out, it has (to my knowlege) kept the V1 name. As to the question of whether Valentine Research is coming out with a new model? I doubt it... more than likely it will be a minor upgrade to the radar itself, but not something that will merit an entirely new product (V2). Best way to find out is simply call them... they're great people to deal with (from my experience).

I'm not sure when the last update took place, but rest assured that any model you buy today will include the latest updates. By the way, if you're on the fence as to whether to buy a V1 or not... do so. You'll be glad you did... it's WELL worth the investment.

(... waiting for the OTHER brand's loyalists to chime in ...)

If you already have one, you can go to their web site and punch in your serial number. It will then tell you if you have the latest model. If not, they'll upgrade yours on a "prorated" basis. You mail in the old one and they send you the newest one.

The only place you can get one is mail order through Valentine One. I know of know one who sells them otherwise.
