I have the same head unit.
1) Make sure that the sound files are really mp3's
2) Record your mp3's cd's by using MusicMatch
3) Set up the folders correctly in the burn options like this "Genre/Artist/Track"
PM me if you still have a problem. Mine works great.

my mp3 works fine but i don't think it suport wma.
also i tried aac files (which is itunes default music file option-also any music file you buy off from itunes are in aac) and avn unit doesn't support those either.
so make sure you put mp3s not wma or aac files.

MusicMatch is a software package that downloads, plays, burns, etc. music. There are free versions yes.http://www.musicmatch.com/download/free

How I use is...
Just make bunch of folders and copy mp3 files into each folders and add 01, 02, 03... in front of those mp3 files so I can manage the track #s.
I use iTunes with all correct ID3Tag but it never shows artists, album, title correctly. So only info I see on the screen is.. Number (that I added as prefix to manage track#) and about 8 letters of broken title of song.
If anyone knows how, please share with us.
Thanks.
It sucks how it is limited to letters and numbers because of the resolution. Another thing I don't like is it takes about 1.5 seconds to load the next song. My last Pioneer head unit didn't have that problem. Oh well I'm getting Sirius tomorrow screw my cd collection and public mind controlling radio.
I don't think its because of resolution. When I play CD, it shows artist/genre/song title/album title/track #. I think it means, it has enough resolution to show mp3 files too. I think its issue of AVN unit not supporting ID3Tag well.
And yeah. I'm using my iPod for music. MP3 CD takes long time to go back to folder or skip a song.

when u burn the mp3 files on disc do u need to burn a data disc or a mp3 disk.. cuz ive tryed mp3 and all i get is "checking disk" and then nuthing... it doesnt read the disk. its really pissing me off
I would think it is "data", since that is how my home dvd player works. it plays mp3s and I make a dvd data disk with like 4 gigs of mp3 files in it. I think that is your problem, that you have been making an "mp3 cd" when you should be making a "data cd".
