Just installed my 7017. I can't get any sound. The setup screen has a padlock symbol on it and I can't access the menu or get any sound. Anybody else have the same problem?

 

You might be able to reset the unit. I believe there's a small opening on the front of the unit that you can stick a paperclip in that will reset the unit. If that doesn't work, there might be a security code may be enabled. Did you buy the unit used?

 

No I bought it new. I'm going to try playing with the security code. I already did the reset. Is there a factory preset code? Anybody know?

 

If you send it to me, I'll check it out for you ...

The instruction manual that comes with the unit talks about the security codes. Although I have the DDX8017 and the security feature is not turned on when you get it from the factory, you have to turn it on if you want to once you install it.

 

I fixed it. It was really something dumb on my part. I forgot about the Bose amp! I was thinking that the turn-on lead was only for an external aftermarket amplifier. Duh.
