Default Ipod to car connection

Hey guys what do I need to connect Ipod to my Z's non-bose factory system?

I've seen those aux interface to RCA input but what do I use to connect the ipod to the RCA female?

Whatever you do, don't buy the Griffin iTrip or Monster RF tuners. They work like s**t in the Z. You could try it out for yourself, most places will take it back with a 10% restocking fee. My connection is a Monster cassette adapter, but I have the Bose 6cd/cassette stereo. I don't know, maybe your radio will receive a stronger signal from one of these RF tuners than mine did. Good luck!

I'm definately going with the Aux input route...but how do I connect the Ipod to the RCA female? another cable?

I found PAC makes a Auxpod for straight connection to the back of the factory stero (CD changer connector) but I can't find the right harness made for my non-bose Z

iTrip is the worst thing I have ever used. I have to be holding the iPod and touching the head unit to get good reception. To make matters worse, I actually pick up other people's 87.9 transmitters clearly (from their iPods or whatever) when they drive by me. The iTrip is THAT weak. Plus, it drains the already ****ty battery

On the ipod site it says they are working on a direct integration, hopefully its not much further off and the price isnt too insane.

There are a few ways to do it, you'll need a 3.5" Stereo to dual RCA's (you can make your own via Radio Shack or pick one up pretty cheaply there as well). I think davidnovone sells them on his website.

Option one is to just come out of the headphone port on your iPod ... keep in mind that the volume control on your iPod AND Stereo will both work and be cumulative.

Option two is to get something like one of the mini-docks that connects to the bottom of your iPod and gives you line out at a minimum. Some do charging as well. Check out the Sik Imp for example. Line out is definitely the way to go. I think I have an extra PAC AUX NISS kit that has two inputs. Never installed it ... pm me if you want details on it but it basically hooks right into the factory stereo and gives you two RCA (Left/Right) inputs. It only works if your radio is sat-enabled (without sat) though since it uses that connection to operate.
