iPOD + VIDEO
Has anyone heard of/tried hooking up a new iPOD (w/video) to a Nav Screen to play the iPod video? This would be a neat trick. I wish Apple would patna up with a stereo manufacturer to make a truly seamless connection, or install iTunes onto a head unit! Like they did with the Motorola ROKR w/iTunes. Is Apple listening???? They're missing a huge opportunity here.
I have iPod video and I play video on my Eclipse AVN5435 without any problem. (not sure with stock nav.)
iPod's headphone jack has included video out along with stereo out.
Just connect iPod AV cable (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...plm=M9765G%2FA) to your ipod's headphone out.
And apple cable's RCA out to your video input on the headunit.
If you look at the apple AV cable carefully, its connection is slightly longer than regular headphone because it has video out.
Also in order to make ipod video play on the scree (or tv at homoe), you need to change its options.
to change option in the ipod, go to "videos>video settings>TV Out. and change it to on or ask (1. If you choose "ask": when you play video it will ask you "TV on or TV off" so if you want to see it on the ipod, select "TV off" or if you want to see it from external screen, select "TV on" then video will paly on the external monitor. 2. If you choose "on", your ipod video screen will just show title and video will only play on the external monitor)
Hope this helps.

if you want to save some money. the mini jack to video/audio out cable by apple is switched up. the generic plug that has mini jack to video/audio, all you have to do is switch the red and yellow rca's
