ok all you audio/system people
Im looking to do my audio now since my performance is good where it is.
Im looking to do 5 10s, for show and listening purposes.
Im gonna be getting the magic box #1 that holds the 3 tens under strut
then getting the side magic boxs, (painted daytona)
Ok now what I need to know, is what 10s to put in there with best sounds quality, amp/amps, what should i upgrade my door speakers 2, and my tweeters.
Gimme price listing as close as you can find, or like a link to the subs, link to the amp, etc...
Also later i will be getting the Kenwood-DDX7015 DVD double din HU
(dont worry about limit cause ill be paying the working it all off at once)

If you're putting in 5 ten inch woofers you're not doing it for sound reasons (pun intended) but rather for looks/show so that means that what the woofer looks like (to you) is more important than it's Thiel Small parameters matching your boxes. The name brand, the color, the look of the grills is going to me a bigger factor in your eyes (pun intended again) than the sound of the speakers to your ears.
Personally I've always bought sound equipment based on what sounded best rather than what was popular, looked pretty, or was cheapest/most expensive. I also married a woman who could cook, kept a clean house, was kind hearted, happy and polite rather than one who just had a nice rack.
I have seen some sub-woofers that were transparent and allowed you to light them from behind. I always thought that those would be striking in a show car as long as the colors could be matched to the interior lighting and such.
I like the Zappco amplifiers and bought my first one back in the late 1970's. Thier competition line is very powerful and good looking too boot. To even come close to the level of bass amplitude five 10 inch woofers being driving with a Zappco amplifier you're going to need to add serveral addition mid-bass, mid-range, and tweeters to your car.
You're going to have a system which can render permanent hearing damage in mear minutes of listening.

i am with paul on this one, aside from wanting to generate the wow factor, there is no reason to do 5 10s in a Z...infact, i will go as far as saying that you can achieve louder results with just three under the strut bar.
why? well, most likely, you will not be able to fit the biggest 10" subs on the side boxes, so unless you are going to mix sub sizes, you will not be using hte most powerful subs avaiable. and secondly, you are going to have some cancellation issues for sure, having so many subs facing in different directions in such a small confined space.
so...my recommendations, if you want a LOT of bass, and some crazy looks, would be simply to do say...three 10w7s under hte brace if you can manage to squeez them in.
but...back to your question...
if you are determined to do 5 10s, i would go with subs that are more sq oriented than all out spl. this would sound better and since more sq oreiented subs are usually less power hungry, itiwll place less of a strain on your amp requirements and in turn your electrical system
a few that i have used over the years and liked and i think would work for your purpose:
jl w3v2
image dynamics idq
alumapro alchemy
crystal comp
and a few others...just do a search on google and you should be able to find pricing info.
as for the rest, dEFINETLY get a strong front stage, a powerful comp set, maybe a three way, that can keep up wtih all your bass in the back, is definetly a must.
as for good spekares, there are just so many out there, it depnds on yuor budget and listening preference...
same can be said for amps and other accessories...

Go ahead and get some JBL 10" Gti subs ... need very little airspace and can rock in that style of enclosure.
You'll need a solid 5kW to power it though.
That will require a fully built electrical system ...
Seriously though, dont do this.
Spend the $1000 on a VERY WELL BUILT, custom under strut bar box/amp rack that will either hold 2 10s or 2 12s. Get two XXX, Brahmas, W7s or something and have at it. You will need half the power, you'll get the same output, and you won't look like an a$$clown doing it.

Well my town is WAY pricey on custom enclosures and such. For the boxes ive drawn out for my car they saidit would take 800-1000 alone just for the boxes (to be fiberglass) i race this car, track it and drag it, so im avoiding as MUCH weight as possible without rendering sound quality.
The 5 10s idea just looked good from a standing view, so yes that is for looks. The almost circular mold of boxes would look great for show, but like i said above I do not want to render sound quality at all, i dont want it to sound distracted with different frequencies and such.
But im not the type to go all out and put 15 neon tubes in the system and all that, and i would like for their to be some trunk space left (to at least carry my poker chips, cause thats where the other 1/2 of my income is coming from)
The pic included is kinda how i wanted the side moldings. What would sound better, going with a custom enclosure such as in the pic and sticking with 2 nice 10s like the JL 10w3v2? or going with the 3 10s strut box? and sticking with nice 3 10s?

dont see a pic, but if youare into racing, and track, you are definetly going int he WRONG direction with that many subs.
also, 800-1000 for fiberglass enclosures for 5 subs is not unreasonable at all, infact, iwould think some shops would charge quite a bit more than that.
not sure what youa re trying to acheive sonically, but to be quite honest, in such a small car like the Z, and being a hatch, even 1 high pwered 10 will be able to put you into the 130 db range, and if you are going to be listening to music with bass that is beyond that, well, you are going to loose your hearing soon..
my suggestion, based on your input, would be to do one or two 10s, something high powered, such as say, jl w7, w6v2, image dynamics idmax, in a strut brace enclosure, will make you VERY happy, any two of those subs above should make you closein if not ahcieve, 140 db max output, and that, my freind is way louder than you should want to listen in the car...heck lowered powered subs like image idq, w3v2, and others should be loud enough already
as for what would sound better, tahts more to do with installation skill and tuning. both side boxes and backward firing boxes can sound good, but from a purely loudless perspective, i would vote for hte back firing strut enclosure. three reasons, one, they are both going to load off the back wall and hatch and give you slightly more cabin gain, they are both in the same direction so less chance of cancelation, and beucas of hte enclosure, you should be able to fit bigger subs in them
if you want a good overal balanced sound, remember to spend some of your effort and money to the front stage, have a nice amp to power them and use good speakrs with a good install

Well the boxes i asked them about were for only 2 subs that they priced from 800-1000... but thats beside the point.
I think the 2 sub enclosures in the pic looks good. And besides I dont have a spare in my car anymore i cut weight taking it out so im not worried about that. Either way lets say i get enclosures such as those, what 10s should i get (was thinking the Jl 10w3 series 10s) and what amp would i need to run those 2 subs, new 6x9s in doors or w/e size ill get, tweeters? and im planing on doing the amp rack in the compartment behind passenger seat... thanks

If you have no spare, then I advise you to do a nice false floor in the sapre tire well with 2 12s. It will LOOK impressive, sound amazing and keep the added weight lower in the car.
I'd suggest Adire Brahmas or RE XXX's

I ended up going with the JL Audio 1000/1 to power two JL Audio 10w6v2d4.
There is no doubt in my mind that Zapco makes some of the best car audio amplifiers out there. Everything is top quality and extremely underated.
As far as what subs to use for a 5 sub setup in a Z. I would just some 10w1v2's or 10w3v2's. The bottom line is that with that much surface area, you aren't going to need massive power to hit high SPL levels. Of course, this setup isn't going to break any SPL records, but will definitely be loud.
