Kinda late on this...
I have asked both dealers local to me here in Lewisville about removing the Bose system from the Touring model I plan to get. They both flatly said no, we can't do that. I mentioned that I had heard of DOZENS of people that were unsatisified with the system and that I was unwilling to pay for it, both basically told me not to buy the touring model then. As a side note I got layed off which is one reason I don't have the Z yet and also was waiting on real info on the convertable. I have never liked Bose car audio, thy make great stuff for the home but somehow it to me just never translated to the 12 VDC world well.

Angry the bose system sucks

The Blose system sucks. There is a fix to disable the the mic that Bose uses to adjust the sound freq. of the system which I did and it does a good job but this souldn't have been nessary in the first place !

Default Just Touring???

Okay, so I've read this thread from start to finish... and I haven't heard anyone mention the Track model yet... does the same problem exist for the Track model? It's already June and I'm thinking of buying one at the end of June... what can I expect? Also, on a slight side note, I read in this thread that lead times for a new Z are almost 3 months??? WTF!

Only the TOURING package has the BOSE system. The track comes with the standard stereo. There is no waiting for a 2003 Z. Most dealers have them in stock. The wait you may be hearing about is the 2004 convertible....

I C... hmm... well can you explain to me why the top line model gets the shitty stereo? Maybe I should think it's a blessing? How easy would it be to replace the standard stereo with a new one... like an alpine or something?

Default 2004 Model

Anybody know anything about the 2004 NON-ROADSTER models? Will they still have the same four trim lines (base, enthusiast, touring and track)? Same Bose stereo in the Touring?

Have they released any pricing information for the 2004 year?

Just an idea. How about writing a complaint to Clarion since they are the ones that actually made the stereo system. They make all of Bose car audio systems and just have the Bose name on it under a licensing agreement....

both stereos are shitty

the bose system is hard to replace unless you want to swap everything.

the regular stereo is easily replaced

BOSE blows,BOSE blows

At least once or twice every day someone asked me how do like your car, nice car, beautiful car, and I make sure I reply the car is excellent only thing that sucks is the Bose stereo system! Don't ever by a car with a Bose stereo system, they say oh I thought Bose was good, their living on their name they have anybody supply their equipment Clarion etc.

And it's such a shame how they're dealing with this problem making like they're going to take care of it even admitting their product is substandard. I've had my car seven months now may be in three or four years they'll figure out what makes their system so crappy. That's true R&D.

Maybe I'll go out and buy one of their $600 boom boxes for my house it must be good they have a half-hour commercial for it

Default what

This topic now has 9 pages of complaints about the Bose system. Other than the letter from Patty Bolak(sp?) has anyone heard from Nissan or Bose? What does Steve Lam from NNA have to say about it?

The latest info is as follows:

I have spoken with BOSE, who acknowledge the bad performance. They also told m ethat the BOSE engineers are working for a fix for not only the new installations but for existing installations as well for those that complained. They said that they are in untouched waters as they have never had to redesign and installed system. They are working with NISSAN on a dealer possible fix.

Yesterday, I was notified by NISSAN that they and BOSE are holding a joint engineer's meeting this morning (6-17/03) concerning this issue. I am supposed to get a call later today or tomorrow from NISSAN concerning the results of this meeting. I will pass any info, good or bad, that I get. Lets just hope that it is good.

You can add my name to the list of dissatisfied customers with the Bose upgrade.

I would also like to be added to the list of those dissatisfied with the Bose, if anybody is still keeping one. I've already contacted Bose and received the standard "not up to our corporate standards" e-mail.

The meeting between BOSE & NISSAN has taken place. The "fix" has been agreed upon and the parts required are supposed to be ordered for production. No details of what is covered in the fix, but at least its a start. They hope to have the TSB out in 8-10 weeks when parts are in stock. I will keep everyone updated as I knwo more. Sorry for no details, but I am just grateful nissan seems to be steping up to the plate.....

I am very dissatisified with the BOSE system in my Touring model. Very disappointed at the first "fix" which simply reduced the power output of the amplifier. Lost faith in BOSE completely.

add me to the list:
