Default Amp is wierding me out..

Ok I installed my amp

Everything is hooked up and plugged in. Turns on plays for 5 seconds then goes into protect.

I unhook the RCA's and it comes out of protect.

I think its bad ground find new ground, and try again..
Same issue.

Any ideas?

Rather than a power ground problem I would suggest a shorted speaker wire or a speaker of too little impedance - has the amplifier always done this or is this a new installation?

That was one of the issues, THe speaker was dual 2ohm and I though it was dual 4ohm. Fixed that by putting the speakers in serial, then it started working. BUt after about 10 min it went out again.

Same problem.

Ten minutes is too short for the amp to thermal clip (especially now at 67oF in RCo). Since the fuse is holding it's not an external short. Are you running >2V preamps, some amps can't handle higher voltage and need a line converter. What brand/model is the amp?

It has to be something with the wires for the speakers, u pulled the rca and there was nothing going into the amp, and no output for the speakers. Double check your wiring.

sounds like your putting a high voltage input into a low voltage input

Given the clues (assuming one speaker coil isn't shorted) I agree. It's time for a new amp! Lucky for you there are a couple of great amp options. Did you save your receipt?

I got a pioneer elite 860mp
and its a autotek SX-475
200 x 2 @ 4 ohms bridged.
However only one "side" is hooked up.

Im going to get a different one, I got it from my stereo shop buddy, It was a display amp and I got it for $100 so I cant complain too much. He is going to switch it out with something else..
