Default doesn't anyone make a 12 inch enclosure

doesn't anyone make a box for the z that will fit a pair of 12"

it seems like no one goes bigger than 10"s

how is it possible that people can fit 3 10" in a 350 but no one has ever bothered to make a 12 inch enclosure

If you mean under the strut, it can't fit unless you you lower the floor (remove spare etc.)

Plenty of us have had 12's in the Z. Myself included--I did it under the strut with a custom fiberglass enclosure. For most people it isn't cost inducive to put a 12 under the strut when you could easily put a pair of 10's etc. Of course, to me the subtleties in sound alone are worth the extra cost and fabrication.

Not to mention I hate having something everyone else does...

I've seen people that make enclosures for a single 12 right in the middle that don't appear to need any type of modification, so why won't two fit? is it because of the arch or the brace?

if the subs won't fit standing straight up because they are too tall than why doesn't someone just design a custom enclosure that allows the subs to sit slightly angled upwards? atleast in my mind this should theoretically allow for a larger diameter speaker and it would also direct the sound more upward so that it would bounce of the hatchback glass? or am I just crazy?

if no one makes a box like this or a similar design that will allow the mounting of 12's does anyone have an idea as to how much this type custom work would cost to have it built? I really preffer the lower bass tones that my 12's produce.

You'd think that woofer size had something to do with frequency response and you wouldn't be half wrong. Depending on the size of the box you'll actually get a higher F3 frequency. A good 12" sitting in the right size box will get a single hertz or two lower frequency.

Pioneer makes a flat 12" sub that can fit where you want it. Or you can opt for one 12 with a large magnet to hit a lower note. I would still sand behind the flat 12's thay will hit the notes you need.. not so good spl.

I've gotten estimates for boxes for 2 twelves at local audio shops here in So Cal. Under the strut box for two twelves made out of fiberglass was $600 with black carpet. Alsoo another shop for around the same price would put it in the floor of the trunk, using the spare tire area. I think I'm going with Zenclosures (Mike), and just trying to find the best 10's/amp combo for some deep LOUD bass! Any suggestions fellas?

Weve done 12's before at myshop. Unless your just going to for cool I have 12's factor there is no reason to do it in that area. You cannot really do a Highend sub with the amount of room you have. On the other hand. If you wanted to take out the spare. Build a custom glass box down into the well area. You could do something very nice. I have not looked down there lately but I would even venture out to say you could do a set ported. When I get my z this week I will look.

Go with a 12!

I had a sealed 12w6v2 under the strut (glassed) and it was SICK.

i agree with jdohman, there are many good 10s that with two of them, will easily match the output of 12s. 10w6v2, 10w7, idmax10, and a slew of others, you wont ever know that you only have a 10 and not a 12 back there, not to mention this is a hatch back..any ONE of those 10s can easily give oyu a nice body massage two will be insane and easily reach into the 140+ db range...

We are working on a 12" enclosure possibly on the left corner of the trunk. The box will go all the way down to the floor. Similar to our corner enclosure now But much bigger enclosure to accomodate for a 12" sub and it will be designed to fit deep 10" subs as well.
