i have a 2003 350z non bose head unit and was wondering if it is possible to wire a sub to that without replacing the headunit. I dont think u can but someone said u can.
you can..they make rca blocks that can convert it to run RCAs, but sound quality sucks, i think JL Audio makes something like this and supposedly has good SQL
Yeah just hook up an RCA converter. Plus it all depends on where u want to hook up the converter. I hooked up mine the the rear right speaker so i wouldnt have to run the RCA jacks from the head unit. Need some tips on how to hook it up just let me know i am a pro with audio CRAP.
349, and it is not possible to hear any lesser quality than the jvc head unit i have in my 240
i really like the stock radio still being installed...the subs are the only thing you can see, and they are almost impossible to spot when hatch is shut

Just pick up an Adjustable LOC from davidnavone.com, it will run you $35 and convert your HU to RCA Output with range of 200mv to 9.5v...
your stock head unit is not ballanced, it is matched with the factory speakers to create a certain sound in the Z that will attract the type of buyers they target, you will find it shifted towards base rather than neutral
the clean sweep converts the stock output to as close to level as possible, that allows you to go higher without distortion
