Installed new Alpine unit, radio doesn't work
I bought a new Alpine head unit today. Everything went fine, install was smooth tried it out before I put everything back and it appeared ok. When I actually took the time to set all my stations I noticed that the only ones that came in were the ones that usually have a really strong signal, all the rest were just a bunch of static. Basically everything worked I just had a really weak signal. What could the cause be?? I plugged in the antenna wire, could it be posible that I just didn't plug it in ENOUGH or is there some kind of connector I need that I dont know about? This is my first time ever installing a stereo so you need to bear with me. Thanks in advance. Any help would be great since I want to get an early start tomorrow morning and fix this.

LOL...I had the same problem and evidently a lot of people do with our car. Here is a thread I used to troubleshoot.

I'm thinking about getting an Alpine HU, but I have DVD Nav. Will the voice fuction still work?
What if I get new speakers too? They told me they would have to re-wire the speakers, and it sounds like the new wires wouldn't include the output from the DVD Nav system.
What are people doing about this? Or is it even a problem?

Aftermarket head units use auxillary input jacks, the problem is they only work when set to aux. They wouldn't work at the same time with your cd/radio. I wouldn't think you can do it. Call crutchfield and ask them, they will be able to look it up and tell you how, if possible. They are very knowledgeable about that sorta stuff.
