Through my limited research, the Pandora works best with the Carnetix CNX-P1900. As far as it being less rugged, I haven't heard anything about that, but that's definately a possibility.

- Xenarc 700TSV - $388.95
- Xenarc Monitor Cable - $45.00
- Xenarc Power Cable - $2.95

Your screen is quite a bit of your budget here, I can't believe it does not come with cables, my dynamix screen came with all that stuff for under 300 and it fits without taking it out of the case (on the 03 cubby anyway).

The reason the 04.5+ cubby does not fit a screen is in the design of the door hinge. The mechanism takes up the space the screen needs. If you can work out a new hinge you would be golden.

Native res is 800x480, it is brighter than my bosses Lilliput and it fit without modifications. I am running at 800x600 but only because I had a hard time getting the video drivers to work at that level. The pixels are so small it's not like a laptop that is running at the wrong resolution, it looks clean with nice edges on the fonts.

HyperSprite: the cables are actually extra long cables. I think the ones the come with the touchscreen are much shorter. I think the cost of the screen should be much less than listed (that's just a price I used from mp3car.com/store).

How's the Dynamix? How does it compre to the Xenarc? I saw the same guy who sells the Xenarc on ebay is also selling the Dynamix. Either way, I will be getting the 03 cubby since I know it's a direct fit for the Xenarc (and you're saying also for the Dynamix).

nissansource: So what's better about the ampie? I'm still reading up on the forums to see what works well. As of right now, they both seems similarly priced so it's a toss-up.

Basha i think the ampi is a solution for a car vs the pandora. dude its a car the MII12000 will do just fine with your everyday apps. your not gonna be playing doom3 or anything in the car. GPS,music, dvd, vids it should do great, also with bt indegration and cell for net acess will be primo and do fine with the via board

Okay that's cool. I just saw that they're roughly the same price. It's like comparing an Evo to an Sti. In fact, I can't really say which is better between the 2. I have no idea which is faster/performs better. I was just asking which performs better since I want to make an informed decision. Of course, I won't be doing this for another 3 months or so.

I used the cable that came with the screen ( http://dynamixcomputers.com/7_dynamix_ultra_bright.html ) down the center console and had no issues with length. The VGA looks great with fonts, pictures, video etc.

If you guys are still on the fence by the end of next month and are going to the Motorsports thing in So Cal, you can check out my setup, I will be driving down for that.

You may have looked into this already, but here's a comparison between the LinITX* and Xenarc/(GAIN?):

*rebadged Dynamix

That is it exactly, only thing to add is that "Auto Turn On" has been added since this review (see CONs at the bottom of the page).

So by that, do you mean that Dynamix has made this change, or you did you upgrade your screen by yourself? Thanks Chris!

Dynamix has made the change, they now remember last state. If it's off when you shut off the car, it will come back on when you turn on the car (provided you have it wired to your ACC position).

Thanks for clarifing. So this is looking like a pretty good alternative then...it's cheaper plus it stays in it's case.
