Default Your opinions on this Head Unit: Sony MEX-5DI

I saw this HU at Fry's the other night and fell in love. It is stacked and racked and ready to go, but i would have to buy a seperate component amplifier. This thing is bee-yoo-tiful all around. I love that it has a Memory Stick slot (now all i need is for the 1gb ms to come down!).

It comes with a red or a blue color scheme, i would buy the blue, as it will match better with my overall color scheme.

Looks like the one in that commercial with that big-head blue guy.

My opinions from looks alone:

Pros:
-Flexible
-neat gadgets/features

Cons:
-Overpriced
-Gimicky
-Single din so you will need a pocket kit

Default I don't like it

It seems to me those little handles on the sides would wear out pretty easily and I would venture to say that that chrome face would be a massive annoyance on bright days. I must also say that many people I know have commented on the dubious quality of Sony car audio. Also: take away the display and you have an average head unit with no really special features. I think your money would be better spent on a nice headunit from Alpine, Kenwood, or Pioneer.

I am not a big fan. It seems a waste of space to me since the LCD is so thin and wide any images you load onto it won't really be that usable anyways =\ Would you use a computer monitor that only ran resolutions like 1600x450? It would be hella friggin' annoying, that's for sure. Kinda gimmicky, as abz123 mentioned.

Personally I am looking into a 2DIN model like the 7700MDX, which I created a thread about here. It looks way cooler, is larger, and suits the Z better in terms of style, I think.
