Default Looking for Aftermarket Security System

Tried a search with no luck. Looking for advice on alarm systems that notify you when car is being tampered with. The ease of gaining entry to a locked Z has me worrying every time I park away from home.

Try seaching for remote start on the site. Those are the ones that you want. Some come with a pager feature. I believe that Prestige (sp?) makes one but you may be limited on your distance (2000M).

as seen in my sig, the Viper 790XV system meets those requirements. it will page (within reasonable distance) of tampering... actually page isn't the right word - every few seconds the car sends the remote an 'update' telling it that everything's ok or not ok. it includes a remote starter (if that kind of thing appeals to you) but the informative remote is by far the best feature of this system. i sell 'em, we install 'em. PM me if you wanna know more about it.

I bought the same one based on your advice in another thread, so thanks. This is also the only alarm/remote starter I could find that allows for installation in a manual transmission vehicle, without the chance of sending it down the street if you forgot to take it out of gear...

I was told that Compustar was illegal to sell in U.S. because it doesnt have a U.S. FCC license. But that is hearsay.

I've got to believe that is hearsay, as I bought it from Nazar who owns three stereo/alarm shops in NH. On the other hand, I know their range is now about 1.25 miles so I could understand why they could have a problem with the FCC...

Do any of these systems (or others that anyone is familiar with) enable you just to install just the pager feature without the audible alarm and remote starter capability?

I'm not sure TCL, I would think you could just not hook up that part, but why pay for something you wont use. The pager feature is the only reason I got my system, the remote start is just a bonus imo. If its cold or hot just crank her up a few minutes before entering and let the climate control take over. Mine even has a temp sensor in car which sends signal to the LCD. I'm going back to the shop in a few minutes and I will check with tech and see if he knows of that type of unit without the remote start and will post when I get back.
