Just removed garbage factory system
I just finished a system swap from factory components to aftermarket. Man what a difference. The factory separates in the front doors are a friggin joke. Why on earth would Nissan put such garbage in a car like this. Well anyway I put Infinity 6.5 components in the doors using the factory speakers as spacers and factory tweeter mounts as well. Infinity 6.5 coaxials in the rear, Memphis 4 channel and Memphis mono block on an Alpine 10 inch type r sub. I left the factory radio for now because no proper kit is available. All in all it sound awesome I was very surprised at the clarity I got from the fact. radio. I did have to mount a bass **** in the compartment above the radio to control the woofer. The car was surprisingly easy to take apart and put back together. I thank all who posted instructions for disassembly of the Z.
I cut the cone assembly out of the plastic speaker housing. Using a pair of dikes you cut the plastic ribs on the speaker, this leaves a perfect hole the same diameter as the new speaker. As long as the new speakers are not to deep it works great. The factory tweet location will fit the infinity tweets perfectly using the factory mounts . There is enough room for the crossover in the lower rear of the door to mount.
can you post some pics of the tweet install? how did you get the covers off? i jsut replaced my doors w/infinity coaxials and the tweeter cover didnt come off. i have some fultron tweeters id like to put in there
Mounted tweets behind factory grills and yes it's very bright and clear. As for the factory mounts the tweeters for the infinity reference 6.5 components are very tiny and fit just like the fact. ones. I used 2 loc's frt. and rear and they fit perfect under the ac controller box which needs to come loose when you take the huge radio bezel out. If you position them right if you need to adjust them just unsnap the shifter bezel and the adj. screws are right there. I took my time and carefully removed all panels from car then ran wires and started install. You will notice the amps are not perfect in the amp rack ....but it was 95 degrees and there comes a time when you say ...what the @#%** just get it done. I will redo when the Z enclosure arrives but for now 1000 percent better sound. Anyone needs an opinion of the new Memphis amps well I have one ......super clean and very small. Overall this system is so much louder than I really need( I'm 35 years old) but whats a Z without boom ? Anymore questions..now is the time while it's fresh cause it fades fast on an old stoner.

For the tweeter, did you just remove the plastic panel for that area and replace it there? I'm glad to hear this cuz I was afraid I'd have to cut some big holes there. Would you recommend this install for a novice?
