Default Bose 2005 Vs. Bose 2006

I have a 2005 Touring edition with the bose sysetm. My question is can I change the head unit from the 2005 to the 2006 without doing any modifications? Can i just swap it out? I want the MP3 capabilities of the bose system in the 2006.

Am I going to run into any issues?

I hadn't heard of there being any differences between 05 and 06 Bose HU's.

But didn't the 06 add stereo controls to the steering wheel? There might be a few extra wires.

My guess is that it would work but honestly, I don't know.

Check nissan for harness fitment and you should be okay! And to the other guy that responded, perhaps you DID NOT read the part of the MP3 capability on the years he is asking about!
Peace!

it wont fit in the dash opening, as the shape has changed, so no, not easily.

Can someone else verify if the dash shape has changed? So If no 2006 Bose that can do MP3 what other options do I have? I dont want to do any major modifications or anything like that...

It's got rounded edges and I think it gets a bit narrower at the bottom. It will not fit (easily or properly at least) into a different opening.

from what i've heard, you can't keep your bose stuff once you change the head unit.. because supposedly the bose wiring is complicated as hell

plus why would you want to keep the bose speakers? might as well change everything if your gonna spend the cash on a new head unit.. after all, you're lookin for quality when you change the head unit right?

True true....but i didn't want to go all crazy and redo eveything..i thought a simple swap of the bose head units would have done the trick for me....So then i am assuming the 2006 G35 head unit wouldnt work either huh....but how about the 2005 did they have MP3 capabilities?

i think the shape of both HU are diff so fitting the G35 one in the 350Z would be difficult, or at least troublesome
