It will help a little, but be prepared to do it all or nothing. There is a lot of metal parts that need attention. Much of the car is non insulated - just metal and plastic innards.

It's really going to depend on how much dynamat you put in. I was at 3 rolls into my Z and it made a little difference when I drove it on Saturday. I've since added another roll (most to the spare tire well area) and have a little more to go to stop the incredible amounts of vibration in my door panels. I'm hoping that will be it because I don't want to do the roof or dash board.

Every little bit helps...make sure you get the wheel wells, they add alot of noice, and have very little factory sound dampening. I used about 50 sqft of a product similar to Dynamat Extreme, which is half the cost. It helped alot, but I did just about everything, including the doors, spare tire well, side walls, and the areas behind the seats. The more you add the better, but it is alot of work...

Default Lower Cost Products are out there ...

I have done a lot of research, and found these people ....

B-Quiet

I ordered 70 sq ft of the Brown Bread (a sound deadener similar to dynamat, but with better characteristics) and 40 sq ft of the L-comp (a noise barrier). total cost (delivered) is $430

They also have a $2 sample available so that you can compare products. The samples are only a couple of square inches each, but they give you a feel for the different products.

Once I get this installed, I may get some more, esp the Hliner for the hood.

I intend to do the hatch area, and the doors with this material. I will apply the sound deadener first to reduce vibration, then apply the noise barrier on top. After this is completed, I will see about pulling the seats and carpet to do the entire floor.

I will let you know how it turns out.

zblime,
I am thinking about getting their H-liner (.5 inch thick that ahere to the underside of the hood) to deaden out some of the engine noise and shield the hood from engine heat.

Does anybody ever used something like that ? Does it work?

Thanks

Default fatmat?

fatmat (fatmat.com) looks like it might be a cheaper alternative. Its $100 for 100 square feet.

Default FATMAT is good stuff...

I finally got my fiberglass sub enclosure housing 1 JL 10W6 in the hatch yesterday. Even at loud volumes, my Z doesn't rattle, inside or outside. I used the FATMAT stuff, and I think I even bought it off of Ebay from one of their retailers (100sqft plus tools for $100 plus $25 shipping). It looks like Dynamat Extreme, and smells the same. I did my entire hatch, wheel well areas, doors, and compartments behind the seats. Overall, I am impressed with the Fatmat material, and I do feel it works as good as Dynamat Extreme, and the price is about half of what you will shell out for Dynamat.
