Default Hardwire Inverter??

Did countless searches but I just keep gettin useless threads. Im goin to be running a dvd source, home dvd player, or ps2 for my avic d-1. Need to buy an Inverter but I rather not have lines all over the place and was wondering if I can hardwire the inverter through the wires coming into the cigarette lighter. Or will I have to just hard wire the inverter straight to the car battery? Any suggestions to keep this install as clean as possible with no wires exposed??

I would go to the battery and put a relay to disconnect it when the ignition is off. The Cig lighter may not be able to carry the current. The wires could melt and cause a fire.

Wiring to an existing circuit may be too much current for it to handle and keep blowing fuses. I'd wire it to the battery via a fuse. You could use a kit for audio amplifiers.
